Untalented designer that skipped all the math class at school. Let me give you an example: 1. Threat level: In this game, the threat level gives enemy a corresponding percentage buff in HP and STR. In demo, this design is quite okey: you get a threat level that increases for every enemy you kill, so essentially, you get XP and the game becomes a bit harder. That's a very normal dynamic difficulty system. However, in release version, the smartass designer came up with a stupid idea: for every step you move on map, you get threat level, and it's a very big number (+3). The game HIDES main story point in map, so you will HAVE TO explore blindly until you reach the objective. So basically, the game punishes you for not knowing where it HIDES the story point. Read the sentence again, and tell me if a humanly creature can come up with this ♥♥♥♥. AND, there's one map node that will reduce your threat lvl by 3, so ideally this is to clear your threat. HOWEVER, in order to move to that node, you take one step which is +3 threat. Then you take another step to get back, and gain threat lvl AGAIN! So net-net you are getting more threat lvl !! What kind of stupidity would come up with s…34 found this helpful
I enjoyed my time, but it's just incomplete and also abandoned at this point.9 found this helpful
I really wish steam allowed/had a meh option for if people should recommend games because I like the game but it is just a waste because the devs just have said absolutely nothing. I remember picking up this game because it was decently priced and I was hoping that it would be like other indie games; expanding over time or at least saying they would but this game I don't think ever got one, certainly not in the time I have owned it. I would say if it is on discount buy it. The gameplay is enjoyable enough although the balancing is not great. There are three characters and I have only played two but even with that you can see the issues. I do like the game as I said before, so I hope updates come soon.2 found this helpful
Meh. Don't bother.2 found this helpful
After about 10 hours, I beat the game for the first time on normal. This is a rogue-lite. You will get your arse kicked more in the beginning, and then as game goodies are unlocked and you understand the game mechanics, you will have a higher chance of winning. Some have argued that the accumulation of menace, which makes the enemies stronger is a deal breaker. But I can see how this may provide game balance. There are five difficulties: very easy, easy, normal, hard and very hard. Beat the game once, and you unlock a new leader. Beat the game with the new leader, and unlock the last leader. Game resources collected at various points (nodes), with the option to collect what you want range from gold to buy troops, build points to build structure at your base that provide buffs to your troops, spells(called Edicts), relics, decreases in menace, knowledge to level up troops, healing/training for the troops, and the leader, memories (which allow you to choose what spells, troops, etc. you want in the game before starting it) and maybe some I missed. You choose where your army goes on a map filled with nodes, but be mindful that traveling around the map to collect every resou…1 found this helpful
Fantastic and polished tactical RPG/roguelike where you're the bad guy: the Lord of Ravage! Lots of build crafting to explore with this one! Your "build" consists of: - Units (presented as "human shields", but they can become quite strong with upgrades and synergies) - Edits (basically a deck of spells; you only draw 4 a turn, making this one of the only bits of RNG that exists in battle) - Relics (roguelike staple at this point) - You, Lord of Ravage. At any point in a battle, your can have your leader jump in to replace everyone else for the remainder of the battle. He's strong AF, but his health doesn't automatically regen between battles like everyone else's health does, and once he dies it's game over! Like many great modern roguelikes, half the fun is in finding synergies between the various tools at your disposal. The pixel-art style is also **chef's kiss**. There should still be a free demo/prologue version available too, so there's no reason this game shouldn't have way more traction IMHO!1 found this helpful
