"Low Light Combat" is a failed attempt at making a quirky FPS arena shooter by a bunch of failed game developers whose games suck so much, than when reviewers mentioned the games suck and didn't buy them, took Valve to court, Digital Homicide style. I know you're thinking, wow, these talentless, failed game developers who never made a decent product really are jerks, but this is not a review of the toxic game developers at Wolfire, no matter how bad they are. This is a review about the game, "Low Light Combat". Let's talk about Low Light Combat and why it sucked so much. Novel ideas are not always good ideas, the concept of a rapid day/night cycle somehow adding something to FPS arena shooters failed hard. And, as is common to this developer, the technical implementation quality is extremely weak. Everything is assembled in an amateurish way, so the game is thoroughly unpleasant to play, it looks bad, and feels bad. That's if you can get a server to work... the basic game code itself is a sloppy mess, the game hangs and you're more likely find yourself pressing Alt+F4 to quit rather than actually playing a game, if you can convince anyone to play with you. The original 'Low Light Combat' is a multiplayer stealth shooter where nuclear-powered cyber-ninjas fight in icy caves for survival, created for the Mojam 2 charity drive. Despite its unique mechanics and charitable purpose, the shift from a bold, niche Illuminati concept to a generic space FPS aesthetic feels uninspired, missing the charm of its original premise. Please, Wolfire Games, bring it back or develop another game with the original art style, direction and of course, the cyber-ninjas themselves.
