Lumina Veil

At first glance, Lumina Veil looks like your standard Resident Evil style survival horror. You explore maze-like environments, manage resources, unlock new paths, and defeat whatever monstrosities get in your way. But underneath, it has an interesting story idea involving psychological horror - one you’re much better off discovering for yourself. Metroidvania-like map design is a survival horror hallmark, but Lumina Veil’s design is just basic backtracking with light resource management. There is no puzzle solving, and combat is quite simple. You only have one gun with two ammo types, plus melee attacks to save ammunition. That’s pretty much it. Character animations are a bit stiff, and general controls can feel a little clunky at times. With that said, shooting is precise, and melee is more responsive than I expected thanks to the ability to cancel animations with a dodge. This simple combat design actually works quite well for the game. Environmental interactions are a bit inconsistent. Some automatically open inventory menu for you, while others only give you a description. You have to manually open inventory to use an item on the spot, which isn’t quite intuitive and may co…

Reminds me of Tormented soul but with some Silent Hill vibes. Not super scary though, or hard, and combat is pretty meh. Game feels super low budget, but so did Tormented Soul. It's free so whatever.

It is a beautiful game, though in some places there are no instructions to let the player know where to go or what is required, which makes it difficult to grasp the game's concept. Nevertheless, it is a great game, and I recommend trying it.

Great game , giving Alan Wake vibe besides the time travel

I very rarely write reviews on games. I even can't remember when was the last time i did. But this game is truly a gem. Of course it is not perfect and all. But definitly pretty nice looking (i'd even say it is very nicely designed in my opinion). The enemies are diversified and interesting, all with their own way to annoy you and bring some new kind of interest and tension. The scenario is pretty cool and original. The characters are endearing and i was looking forward to know what would happen to them all along the game. Music is pretty cool and even voice acting is pretty good for such an independant production. In a few words, that is a really cool and nice game. Yes it is short but definitly entertaining and captivating in some ways. The fact it was developped and produced by a single person, and free, makes it a gem. It is free but definitly i would have been ready to pay some money for this. To the creator : Congratulation. Thank you for this. And i hope to see more of your work in the futur.
