About Maelstrom: The Battle for Earth Begins Enhanced
In the space of fifty years, Earth changed from a planet on cusp of a challenging future to a world a breath away from lifelessness and plunged into an apocalyptic time of ecological disaster, global warfare and the meltdown of human civilization. This is the time of the Maelstrom. In this ravaged world, the planet's dwindling resources have divided what remains of mankind in two: the urban freedom fighting 'Remnants' and the technologically advanced 'Ascension'. Now they must wage war against a new threat, the invasion of a savage alien race, the Hai-Genti, and each other in a desperate struggle for supremacy and survival. Through the game's missions, take command from different viewpoints and employ faction-specific tactics and weaponry to achieve your objectives. Complete with the ability to terraform landscapes and transform units, Maelstrom provides gamers with the power to harness the forces of nature in the most frantic, destructive, action-packed RTS game yet.

This remaster flew under the radar for me completly and only came across it by pure chance. It all works great on modern systems now so the headache of getting the old version to kinda work is now a thing of the past. Wonderful to see this on here. Easy buy9 found this helpful
I remember playing the demo of Maelstrom The Battle for Earth back in 2007 and almost 20 years later, the underrated RTS returns with Maelstrom The Battle for Earth Enhanced and it was amazing. despite it's flaws it was one of my favorite RTS I ever played. and to the people at K-D Labs, I want to say: thank you for bringing Maelstrom The Battle for Earth back from the dead. I loved this game as a Kid, played the campaigns half a dozen times at least. When I saw that there was a remaster of that game, i was pretty excited and eager to play it again. Nostalgia brough me through the first and halfway through the second mission, thats it. It is really just the old game re-released. No quality of life features, no improvement to pathfinding that was mediocre in 2007, clunky controls and bad pacing of the missions. Waiting several minutes just for ressources to trickle in is not really good design. So overall....sadly not a good game3 found this helpful
I played the og version of this years ago. It has some great ideas and I really like the factions, especially the alien faction. However, as other have said, it's missing some major RTS QoL features, such as; Attack Move and Box/unit selection is limited to very few units. (Roughly 10-20 I think). Pathing, sadly is VERY rough around the edges. I've had plenty of my units either walk into water which leads to them damaging themselves. (Mostly a Remnant issue, however they do have an upgrade that allows some units to float). This is more unit behaviour, but roughly linked, if there is nearby fighting, units will not approuch or help, unless being attacked themselves. Whilst these aren't many issues, for me it made the game a chore to play, I gave up on the campaign after a few mission as I had to baby sit my units so often. I really want to like this game, like I did in my childhood. But considering there are older games out there with these features that, this lacks, it's best to stick to those. I have really enjoyed the devs other games, I just wished I could of enjoyed this one as much as those.2 found this helpful
