Thousands of years have passed since the destruction of mankind.Giant beasts roam the earth, and order is divided into “academy states”, ruling territories governed by magical young maidens.
The “Art Club”, a group of Tsukishiro Academy students who don’t contribute to society and do nothing but read manga all day long, has just been informed that their club is to be disbanded. The only way for them to overcome this overwhelmingly desperate situation, is to achieve victory over the other academy state clubs in a Beautiful Warriors Contest!
Representing the art club, Romi Shikisaki must team up with her best friend Manamo Kuriyama and embark on an epic battle to save their beloved way of life…
A side scrolling shooting game where you blast away foes while simultaneously swapping between two distinct characters. Damaging enemies will build an “alchemy aura” around your character which transforms enemy projectiles into gems. Collect these gems to build a magic gauge that will allow you to unleash “Friendship magic”, an extravagant performance and powerful beam that obliterates surrounding enemy missiles and ships in mere seconds.Aggressively plunge into barrages of enemy fire, and blast away defeating enemies with exceptionally satisfying force!

Maidens of a Hollow Dream is a compact yet mechanically thoughtful horizontal shoot-’em-up that blends classic bullet-hell design with a deliberately eccentric anime presentation. Developed by Akiragoya and published by Henteko Doujin, the game sits firmly in the doujin shmup tradition, where expressive systems and risky scoring mechanics matter far more than narrative polish or production scale. It is unapologetically niche, but within that niche it shows a clear understanding of what makes arcade shooters compelling. The narrative framing is intentionally absurd and mostly serves as flavor rather than motivation. Set in a strange post-apocalyptic world ruled by magical academy states, the story follows two girls from a manga club trying to prevent their club from being shut down by entering a surreal “Beautiful Warriors Contest.” This setup exists primarily to justify the game’s playful tone and exaggerated character designs, and it never tries to present itself as serious drama. Instead, it leans into self-awareness and parody, using its premise to keep the mood light while the gameplay itself remains demanding and precise. Positives: - Attractive female characters. - THICC representation. Negatives: - Game is a messy jankfest in desperate need of a lot more polish.
Maidens is at heart a cheap Deathsmile / Troubled Witches Clone. Not Fun to play... (my opinion) and even the "Ecchi" Stuff is "meh" The other Games by Akiragoya are much better... His SHMUP Angel of Dusk is a 8/10 Banger of a Shmup...
This game makes reference to water-sports and the shooting is not bad too. Worth every penny.
