I enjoy playing the games offline, but it seems the online for the arcade games is DOA. It's easily worth what I paid for it considering the content, but people wanting online may not be happy. I played through Avengers and XMEN 3 times from beginning to end. I hate to imagine how many quarters or tokens that would have cost me at an arcade.

Okay, so I was pretty excited to try this. I had a good time with collections like Castlevania and TMNT, so I figured maybe I'd get the same with B-list/C-list old-school Marvel games... well... The Good: X-Men: The Arcade Game – This is dope! I had fun with this one. I beat it twice—once with Nightcrawler, once with Wolvie. It also supports up to six players. This is easily the best game in the collection; a fun, old-school beat 'em up. The Okay: Captain America and the Avengers – This is okay. No specials (at least in the arcade version) took away a bit, and the bad guys can be damn annoying. But overall, fun enough. Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage – Fun to relive this, especially having just read the event not long ago. It has some banger music and graphics, but beating up umbrella users and women who use their hair as weapons was not on my bingo card for Spidey to do. The Bad: Silver Surfer – BORING. Venom/Spidey: Separation Anxiety – A worse version of Maximum Carnage and cheaply made. Spider-Man and the X-Men – ♥♥♥♥ THIS GAME!!!! ONE OF THE WORST GAMES EVER!!!! So yeah, sadly this collection only has one legit good game, two okay, and the rest are garbo. It's pro…

This game is a wake-up call that some of these X-Men and Marvel games we adored as children were not nice, with cruelty seeming to be the design philosophy, haha. But, with the rewind feature taking the bite out, it's a pretty charming way to relive these while looking great on modern displays. Playing an X-Men arcade game that once was an exhilarating way to spend time at a skating rink as an adolescent while doling out quarters into an arcade machine, now with instant rewind capability on a nicer screen, is definitely a small joy. Classic collections done well like these are a treasure. I'm looking forward to more.

Be warned, this games refund setup is broken, you cannot refund the game it'l just get you an error. so far the games are not flawed in any way, playing it entirely for single player. Theres and instant rewind button and save states in the pause menu, which has allowed me to go further in spiderman & xmen than I've ever had the patience for, making it seem like a whole new game to me. A solid collection if you are not after online multiplayer.
