Most 2D side scrolling shooters ask you to run and gun. Not MechBlaze. In MechBlaze you *strut* and gun. Because you're a two-hundred tonne war machine and everyone else needs to get the f*ck out of the way.4 found this helpful

difficult game partly due to the tricky controls you cant use your mouse and 2d side scrollers are inherently difficult. The graphics are phenomial really reminds me of cortex command one of my favorite games and the gameplay is nice i like the weapon selection and being able to dash jump
Mechblaze feels like a return to Astro Port's origins, while also fully embracing the convoluted continuity set game after game. It's a clear spiritual successor to one of their earliest games, Gigantic Army, forsaking the more modern elements of Steel Strider to return to a Valken/Cybernator mech. It's however set before either of those, taking place parallel to Armed Seven, and even directly involves Vulkaiser - it's like a Gundam series where suddenly Mazinger is involved, but Japan has had Super Robot Wars for decades so… Hiroko Nakaya, an important character in a few other games, here assists the player, and is established (or rather retconned) to be a background character in Vulkaiser and Meglilo; a cutscene in the latter game is also reframed in a more serious way, in light of the development of Nakaya throughout the timeline. The mech feels heavy yet maneuverable as it should, and it now comes with unlimited dashing for no more frustration when traversing long stretches of terrain. The shield, while essential to survive some tricky situations, can't be used indefinitely and eventually breaks, with no chances of recov…
you like mechs? this game is for you but there are four things you should know first 1. this game is hard 2. the controls are unconventional 3. this is best played with a controller 4. this game doesnt have fullscreen and only runs on windowed. you can use magpie in tandem for this to be fullscreen
"Mechblaze" - in a strange way - is a more accurate mech-simulation than so many others I've played, especially modern 3D variants. In "Mechblaze" instead, the mech feels the way a mech should feel in my opinion: heavy, armored, cramped with weapons, but also very vulnerable, because of its slowness. In "Mechblaze" we control one of those mechs, moving in an industrial, beautiful side-scrolling world using three wepons we chose from the loadout to defeat countless enemies of all kind, being it other mechs, drones, and oversized bosses. And its a pleasure to navigate, using the jetpack to move out of bullets just to find yourself falling down after the jetpack energy is empty. Its a pleasure to activate the shield, but also not to use it all to often because it breaks away. Its a real reward to get one of those wepon upgrades, making the laser more powerful or the standard weapon. There is no upgrade or customize your mech - "Mechblaze" is meant to conjure the action I remember from some Amiga classics. They are classics for a reason, and so became "Mechblaze" for me.
