I REALLY want to like this game, as it scratches every itch I want from a medieval life sim, but this game needs some serious rebalancing. On EASY MODE, two infants died to "work related accidents." HOW?!? My poor couple FINALLY got a third child all the way through school and he had MAX STATS. He was dead at the age of 18 from bandits. The game did not take his stats into consideration AT ALL. It's ridiculous. I've stopped and started a bunch of saves, and none turned out well. Curses, stupid deaths, and random BS that just incites aggravation. I can understand droughts, limited resources, wars... but this BS is just designed to cause rage. If that appeals to you, you'll like this game. Just don't expect to make it past the first generation. And with no hot fixes or updates since November 2025, I doubt any of this will be addressed.

Buy it if: - you are obsessed with games where you build up your family dynasty from scratch - you'd welcome a changling into your family for an extra pair of hands - calculating which crop is best to feed your family sounds like fun to you Don't buy it if: - you're not a fan of repetitive actions across turns (ie. farm, chop wood). This forms the majority of the game - you think you'll find it too annoying when there are negative events like characters being kidnapped or attacked by bandits. Your family will probably have a tough time in this game, and most of the time there's nothing you can do about it - you're looking for something deep and complex Review: Medieval Legacy is a worker-placement game with family dynasty mechanics. Every month you will move your labourers between various tiles like fields, forests and mines in order to gain resources. On your first playthough you'll start with just one - a particularly good farmer. After hitting certain unlock conditions, you can start new playthroughs with different families and classes. But back to your first run for now - over time, your starting farmer will marry, gradually gain land, have children (hopefully some will in…

Overall, I'd give this just an "ok" rating. Lots to like about the mechanics but some annoying and/or underwhelming traits keep me from giving it a more enthusiastic recommendation. First, I didn't realize I had "won" the game. I missed the pop up for the achievement associated with it and didn't see any other indication that I'd beat it. Just clicked the button to do a thing and nothing happened, game kept going. Perhaps this is a bug but wasn't until almost an hour later that I checked achievements and saw I got the "non-violent" win. Second, there is a lot of micromanaging in this game. providing first aid, assigning tasks, repairing equipment, etc. is all done on an individual character basis. The notifications about someone getting injured or sick don't give you the ability to handle it from there, you have to do it after the acknowledgement. Only good thing about this is you typically only get one notification for one person even if several people experience issues. At first with a small population, this isn't so bad but as your family grows it gets to be a nuisance. Why isn't there a "cure all" or even a filter by status option? Third, the game advertises as bu…

Medieval Legacy is an ambitious indie strategy and management title that sets itself apart by placing lineage, survival, and long-term planning at the very heart of its design. Developed and published by NineToPlay, the game blends elements of family simulation, city building, and turn-based strategy into a cohesive experience that emphasizes generational growth rather than short-term conquest. Instead of casting the player as a king or omnipotent ruler, Medieval Legacy begins on a far more grounded note, asking you to guide a single struggling family through the harsh realities of medieval life and slowly carve out a place of influence in an unforgiving world. The early hours of the game are defined by survival and scarcity. Food, health, morale, and shelter are immediate concerns, and every decision feels weighted by the fragility of your household. Assigning family members to jobs is not just a matter of efficiency but of necessity, as poor planning can quickly lead to starvation, illness, or social decline. This focus on the mundane realities of medieval existence gives the game a strong sense of authenticity and tension, especially in the opening stages where progress is slow…
