Midnight Margo

I was pleasantly surprised by this game. I didnt expect such a gripping story. We play as Margo, who has been withdrawn from life until recently due to depression. I could not sing the praises of this game more if I tried... I walked into this expecting a run-of-the-mill Adventure Title similar to Fran Bow or Edna & Harvey but this didn't pull any punches; It has very deep exploration in Depression and Social Anxiety and at some points it felt like sheer existential dread, and it tackled it in such a respectful way, at no point did it feel like it was trying to make light of any of this, but yet it also didn't depress you as a player to work through. If anything I felt invested in seeing this through to the end. It had some dark humour I admit but it felt nihilistic without being a downer or taking away from the seriousness of the topic. The world feels truly fleshed out and every character that is introduced has purpose and meaning, and is absolutely beautifully voice acted to carry across that very specific personality in every single line of dialogue. There wasn't ever a point where something fell flat or felt had been delivered in a way not conducive to the narrative. Midnight Margo for 89p deserves higher praise, and I can only hope that the developer has more in store for us because this was absolute perfection.

I new what I was going into, as a guy struggled to relate to lots of it but I new that going in. What I did like about it was the RPG elements, though the reliance of stats was frustrating at times. Storywise the subject was handled with care and despite its roughness was a interesting take on something so serious.

A story heavy puzzle game with great voice acting, interesting graphics and character design. The characters feels realistic in both their design and stories. The puzzles are very hard, I was walking back to the same places many, many times, looking for new things or trying new things. But it gave a sense of accomplishment once you finally solved them. *spoiler alert, maybe* I did have some issues with how things ended, maybe I missed some things, but I wanted to know what happened to everyone else afterwards. Or at least [spolier] hear the speach and see the reactions of the audience. [/spoiler] I also wonder if you really should do so many difficult things in such a short time when you've been having mental problems. That's not small steps at all. Overall a heartwarming game, with a very likeable main character. I like how the game-system is implemented in the story in a clever way. Would definetely recomend this game!

Why this game is so cheap is beyond my comprehension. I’ve played worse games that were far more expensive. I loved the story, especially because I have a mild form of social anxiety and could really identify with Margo. I also enjoyed the way different clothing items modify your stats, which reminded me of Disco Elysium. At one point, Margo’s outfit looked so dorky that I couldn’t stop laughing. It was genuinely funny. I really like this game and even played it twice in a row. I highly recommend it!
