You can't understand what the game wants from you, or how to play it

MiniTrans is a surprisingly interesting city planning game because it makes me think on a much larger scale than most city builders. Instead of focusing on individual streets and buildings, I am planning an entire metropolitan region with main cities, satellite towns and transportation networks connecting everything together. I liked this broader perspective because it makes the game feel more like regional planning than ordinary city management. The main challenge is figuring out how to arrange my cities and transportation infrastructure so that people can move efficiently between different areas. Commuters become an important resource because transporting them generates tax income, so every new connection has a practical purpose. I enjoyed trying to build networks that actually make sense instead of simply placing roads wherever I had space. The economic side is fairly simple, but it gives the planning enough direction. Developing population centers and improving transport links gradually expands the region, and I have to think about how much infrastructure I can support.
