The Developer actually came back and finished the game, after it being abandoned for so long. There was always the hope that they would, but seen too many games abandoned to truly believe it would ever happen. Yet here we are. I've always been a fan of Mistward. It has a simple wholesome design that is a defining characteristic shared by most Sokpop games. You can either play Mistward as a colony sim or ignore that part entirely and play it as a straight up solo survivor game. The progression tech tree is a little silly going from hammering a few sticks together to building a nuclear power plant in no time at all. However, that's okay, because the game is full of charm, and sometimes it's okay when games don't take themselves too seriously.

For me Sokpop games tend to be very hit or miss. This one is definitely a hit! I like the very relaxed gameplay, and though I am notorious among friends for being terrible at city builders and factory games I have been having a pretty great time so far making systems and connecting biomes for resources. My only complaint is that its pretty hard to travel around the map and find good pockets of resources, but that might be my own lack of experience talking. Overall if you aren't sure about it just wait for a sale and pick it up for a few bucks. Sokpop games are my favorite to buy when I am craving a new experience for a good price.

I like Sokpop, but this game is a mess. I even feel a little ripped off. This game is riddled with bugs. Mine carts not working. Item crates flickering obnoxiously. Chickens jumping out of their pen even though I have the cattle guard at the only exit. Items and chickens getting stuck in the ocean. Additionally, the character movement is painfully slow. You get caught up on everything making movement even more frustrating. Your villagers can only perform the most basic tasks and are finicky to command. None of the production times line up in a satisfying away. Resources don't always return when demolishing a building. I thought Mistward was going to be like Stacklands, but it brought me frustration and not much else. I like to 100% Sokpop games. But despite my best efforts to power through, Mistward is just not fun.

Early game is pain and it's quite hard to tell what to do. But because of harsh beggining, QoL features feels much better. Game is rewarding later. little tips: 1 You need laterns and coal to feel peace. 2 Workers aren't that usefull to anything except harvest and stock (before late game).

Mistward is a short, 10-15 hour playthrough that has you fighting off a deadly fog with light on a small island. There's not much in terms of explanation, but the game is simple and doesn't really require much. That said, the goal of the game is to power a few magical items to destroy a gemstone responsible for creating the mist. The game is simple, doesn't have much depth, and is a little janky. If you're looking for a little getaway from the norm, a game that you can listen to a podcast while playing, or something to 100% without dedicating your life to, I'd say give it a shot. I would value the game at about $6, which is what I paid while it was on sale.
