About Floodland

Update 1.2 – NEW TIDE

Floodland has been relaunched with a complete code overhaul fixing all major reported bugs, PLUS some awesome new content, leaving you with a new world ready to build!
As well as core fixes, we’ve also introduced three new starting islands, bringing the total to four. These will randomly spawn when you start the game, making each experience different.
As you progress through the resource tree you’ll also find a new building - the Mushroom Picker Hut is the perfect way to continue develop you food supply.
There’s more! Law system updates, 10 new events, a new achievement on steam and 8 new clans all come to this game overhaul.

Dive in and start building your post apocalyptic worlds!

Unite Humanity - Shape Society

The climate change was a catalyst for a succession of events that led to the destruction of our world; rising sea levels have inundated the coasts. Only you can help humanity survive by leading your band of survivors on a path to redemption. Starting with a lost bunch of survivors, you need to scavenge resources, rediscover technology and maintain the peace between differing factions as you strive to rebuild society.

Explore and Exploit

The world - as you know it - has gone, replaced by islands, swamps and isolated groups of survivors. Gathering scarce resources, you need to explore the world - island by island - helping those you can and dealing with those who do not share your vision of the future.

Grow Your Colony

There's more to a city than just people. Food, shelter, water, health, security - the list is long and varied. Technology to be researched along a branching Tech-Tree, buildings upgraded and specialists to train. It's down to you to make sure all these needs are fulfilled; a job made all the harder with limited resources, space and labour to complete these tasks.

You Are the Law

A society is only as good as its laws; it's up to you to define them. Will you usher in a new utopian age of equality or is your future a benign dictatorship? Not every group shares your vision and the choices you make can have a profound impact on the future of your settlement. A common goal will make your society more productive than one at loggerheads with itself; you need to define and choose your legal evolution and which route to follow on the Law-Tree but - as with all things - there are always consequences.

Unlimited Playthroughs

Each game is different; maps, events and make up of the world are randomly generated, allowing unique playthroughs every time.

✦ AI summary

Players praise the game's interesting mechanics, strong art style, and music, with enjoyable gameplay around resource and clan management that creates engaging strategic decisions. However, many find the clan approval and unrest systems frustrating and overly punishing, especially when they just want to focus on exploration and expansion, and some report occasional crashes during saving or exiting.

The game has an interesting premise, decent gameplay, and fantastic art style and music. However, aside from the occasional crashes when saving or exiting, what really puts me off is the Clan system. Instead of exploring an apocalyptic world, I have to worry about people's feeling. I get that you can't make everyone happy, but one wrong choice or law can lead to unrest that feels impossible to recover from. I've tried, but I just don't find this game enjoyable. It might become more fun as I progress, but I just don't want to invest more time into it.

I like the game, concept is good lots to look after with resource and clan while trying to expand or explore. Down side I've had so far is not being able to continue or load a previous game along with crashing on auto save which I turned off, but it crashed every time I did a save manually also. It did save though so I can carry on next time until I saved again then a crash again. Worth paying a £5 for but not more than that

So it's going to be a no from me. Purchased and played at launch, and have gone back to it several times afterwards in the hope things have been improved; but no. Nothing from the development team for a long time, bugs that were fixed are still present. At around the midgame it renders as unplayable. I thought graphically the game was very strong, I really enjoyed the 'fog of war' effect from unknown places on the map with towering debris arising from the mist, and not just a black patches. It gave a reason to travel other than the storyline with a genuine investigative mindset. I also thought the music was nice, calm and relaxing. Gameplay itself starts well off the starting line, but quickly divulges into a micromanagement system which tears you away from the storyline and exploration in the game with the feel of babysitting room of crying, snotty-nose toddlers. It's cheap at the moment, and worth the price of £3.50 odd, I would pay that. Anything over £8 would be a no go.

good fun game. difficult balancing act between resources and the clans approval. The map and terrain look great.

The mechanics of this game is nice but it would be better if you could play without all the silly bits like controlling the unrest and diseases. It sounds simple but that sort of thing becomes really annoying if you just want to expand.
