I played this a long time ago and just realized I haven't made a proper review after mentioning to a friend after seeing a similar game. Monochroma is a short but fun game. Personally I didn't like the ending, but the journey and puzzles were pretty good. Also the soundtrack rocks!

You play as an older brother carrying your injured younger sibling through a dystopian 1950s world, and that core act both protective and limiting shapes every moment of the journey. What stood out: The Central Burden: The core mechanic of carrying your brother. It slows you down and limits your jump, making every puzzle and platforming section a thoughtful calculation. The added rule that he must be left in lit areas creates constant, tense logistics. Visual Storytelling: The stark black-white world, pierced by strategic splashes of red, is stunning. Atmospheric Weight: From its rainy cityscapes to creepy factory interiors, the game’s moody, 1950s dystopian vibe is perfect. The sound design and score immerse you completely in its somber tale. Forgiving Pacing: The puzzles are environmental and satisfying to solve. Monochroma is a side-scrolling puzzle-platformer clearly inspired by LIMBO, with a similar dark, dystopian tone and focus on environmental puzzles. You guide a child through a bleak industrial world, using light, shadows, and timing to progress. While it definitely wears its influences on its sleeve, I still found it enjoyable. The atmosphere works well, the puzzles are solid, and the visual style has its own identity despite the comparison. It may not be as striking or polished as LIMBO, but it’s a decent experience if you enjoy that style of moody, puzzle-driven platformers.

It's got some good physics puzzles and the chase moments are cuel. But dang it just takes itself way too seriously, the platforming controls just feel bad. That waiting section in the silo that fills with water can also eat boogers. I hate it, moody walker syndrome over 9000.
