There are several characters that unlock as you clear stages, and each one comes with its own weapon, stats, and a special skill. After every use, the skill goes on cooldown, but the wait is fairly short. Every character also has a secondary ability that temporarily increases movement speed, although I rarely found it particularly useful. The gameplay sticks closely to the familiar survivors formula. You move your character around the area while auto aim and auto attacks handle the enemies, collecting experience gems along the way. Whenever you level up, you are presented with three random choices, which can be a new weapon, a perk, or an upgrade for something you already have, and you simply pick the option that suits your build best. You can carry up to five weapons and five perks, which adds a bit of strategy since you do not want to waste a slot on something that will not benefit your character later on. The weapons are decent, although none of them really stand out. Repeatedly selecting the same weapon increases its damage and occasionally adds an extra projectile.
