About Monster Wilds

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS A STUDENT GAME, PLAYERS ARE BOUND TO ENCOUNTER SOME BUGS AND ISSUES DURING GAMEPLAY.
In the Monster Wilds, there is a hierarchy. The largest, most powerful monsters rule the largest swaths of territory, leaving less powerful monsters to the Wild Woods and surrounding areas. Where does that leave Doppels? Hiding, praying they’ll be able to eat and live. The player is one such doppel, a rare color among other blue doppels; one of those parasites who subsists off of monster carcasses and monsters big enough not to notice the stab of their horn.
One day, the pink Doppel notices that if they stab right into the spinal cord under the monster cranium, they see flashes of the monster’s anatomy, and gain more than an understanding of their abilities; the player gains the ability itself. Others of its species simply survive; the player starts to realize that this constraint on their species could evaporate if Doppel were to teach them.
The Doppel ventures forth, taking down small prey and learning abilities that will aid the whole of the Doppel species. When he returns, other doppels herald him a pioneer of another way of life—a hero. With the rising number of monsters that Doppel conquers, he begins to realize that he can combine abilities of monsters of similar level to become stronger. With each ability harvested, the doppel species becomes less and less afraid of the Wilds, and more lustful for adventure, with the pink Doppel at the helm of their expeditions. Doppel only wants to go farther; if it can only take on bigger monsters, it could become more powerful. And with power, comes respect. No longer will the player or their species be bottom-feeding parasites. They are ready to thrive.
Play as Doppel, and battle your way through the Monster Wilds to become the ultimate Monster!

Monster Wilds Colorful little game I enjoyed for about 3 hours. Level your character by defeating monsters. Stab them to death with your horn to steal their attack ability. Collect all 15+ abilities. Explore 3 colorful maps. Defeat 3 bosses. Bright, playful, and surprisingly fun! Highly recommend. Thank you for this game! TIPS: - Inventory: "o" - Remember to Save! Save! Save! - To exit the starting area, Stab the Ticken to steal its high-jump, and then escape... Don't be like me trapped at the start until you're one-hit killing 50+ enemies with all 3 ability slots unlocked and no where to go except a pond that happens to spawn you on the other side of the barrier (thank God) without a high-jump. -Stab the bosses to death and steal their ability!3 found this helpful
Unfortunately I couldn't recommend it. It definitely has potential and is good for a student's effort, but it needs more polish and balancing to be considered playable. I hope the problems could be worked out, as the game premise is fun! +Made by students +Visual style +Variety of monsters and abilities +Free -Very limited options -Barebones tutorial -No key remapping -Awkward battle controls -No story -Very poor balancing3 found this helpful
Amazing game, lots of interessering combos.
i like games with the concept of kill then eat another monster to gain it's ability, and it's free so why not try it, only thing i didnt like is that when i turn the audio down it doesnt change at all
4/10 A simple RPG with turn-based battles Good: - free - actually pretty nice graphics. The cave level has excellent glowing mushrooms and is much better than the ground level. The color palette is great everywhere. Creatures are nice as well So-so: - music is okay but there seems to be 1 track for the battles and 1 for the levels, and they both get repetitive Bad: - battle design is bad. There are lags after every action, and 3/4 of the time is wasted waiting for buttons to appear. These isn't even the attack animations, but simply waiting while buttons aren't on the screen - the first click on buttons in battles always does nothing - the whole system with first click on an ability and then on a target is wrong. When there is 1 enemy, the ability should just attack the enemy. And when 2 enemies, maybe just let the player select a target and use abilities. Battles should be fast in such a simple game. Not even sure they require a special screen - enemies respawn too fast, often just a second after you defeated the same enemy - stats of enemies scale up way too fast - can't see stats of enemies. Only in a separate screen but not in the game itself. Essentially, unless you keep re…
Before I played Monster Wilds, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
