About Morningtide Motel

Your motel is busy for the first time in years. Rumors of a mysterious curse abound, and the citizens of the city begin to spill out to the suburbs and beyond. Your establishment is now overflowing with with antsy city-folk, exhausted suburbanites, and dispossessed youngsters.

In this narrative-driven motel management game, you learn more about your customers’ lives as you check them in to your motel, managing bookings, amenity requests, and document validation. You must tend to the seemingly endless stream of customer service requests: bring your customers tea, coffee, or extra bedding, recommend restaurants, and cater to their every desire in order to maximize your customers’ satisfaction (and their Yup! scores).

As new regulations come down from above, your motel must live up to ever-heightening standards or face fines and even closure. With so much to do, you find yourself pulling all-nighter after all-nighter, and after weeks of tireless, sleepless nights, you begin wonder… could you even fall asleep if you tried?

  • Check customers in to your motel, accommodate amenity requests, and validate their documents.
  • Take care of your customers' room service requests: bring them tea or coffee, recommend restaurants, make their beds, and cater to their every desire to maximize their Yup! review scores.
  • Ensure your motel is up to code or face fines and closure, following an ever-increasing set of regulations and demands delivered to you by an almost too friendly evaluator.
  • Chat with your customers to learn more about their lives and troubles, as well as the mysterious curse that seems to be spreading throughout the kingdom.

it is really rare to have a game actually surprise me, and i can say with my full heart that Morningtide Motel did. i expected a cozy throwaway VN with some fun motel immersion. what i got was a moving heart shattering experience mixed with an existential dread that I have rarely ever experienced in other games. the worldbuilding and art are absolutely stellar. the characters are fun and plentiful. the endings are breathtaking. another unsung hero is the sound design, which is minimal, and thusly makes the "darker" moments really shine and throw you for a loop. however i cannot recommend the game without addressing the elephant in the room. the bugs. so. so. many. it's not entirely unplayable but i have to be honest and say that the save system is non existent and going back to menu and resuming "restarts" the day but it completely glitches things. at one point i had the same person in two seperate rooms, leading to me having to deny multiple characters their stay. it's an amazing game and please but it, it's a steal, but also report all bugs to the dev when you do, because this game deserves to be played in a way that is smooth.

I honestly was not expecting the turn this story would take, but I loved it! Usually I don't try and get all of the achievements if it requires playing the same story more than once, but I might have to come back to this game to collect them all. I love all of the fantasy species and the variety of characters we get as customers. I don't have a whole lot else to say about this game, but I think it's a decent chilling story and it can be completed in a couple of hours or so. Pretty good.

I absolutely loved this game!! The narrative in this game is PHENOMENAL - I was not expecting to find myself so connected to the characters in a relatively short amount of my time but I found myself caring deeply about a lot of the recurring ones! I also was not prepared to be in tears during any of the endings, so that was a pleasant surprise <3 While the game is a bit buggy, I think it's so worth playing for the narrative alone.
