Players appreciate Mortimer's charming, quirky personality and slapstick physics-based gameplay with a fun art style and soundtrack, though some find it brief with limited scope. Common frustrations include technical issues on Steam Deck, occasional UI problems like oversized speech bubbles, and some confusing objective placement that may require guide assistance to fully complete.

Runs like poo on steam deck. The speech bubble takes up half the screen when the camera is near the ground. I couldn't find the last piece for the rocket :(

A bit janky, but pretty good for a student project. like the vibe they were going for.

Booted up Mortimer: First Launch thinking it was just another quirky indie. Ended up accidentally cheering for a little astronaut gremlin. 🚀 – Launching Mortimer feels less like a mission and more like babysitting a space potato with dreams – The physics are hilarious — every successful move looks like luck, every fail looks like a Looney Tunes sketch – Accidentally overshot orbit once and called it “exploration” – Soundtrack makes even my dumbest crash landings feel epic – It’s not the biggest game in the galaxy, but it’s got heart, charm, and way too much slapstick gravity 8/10. Mortimer: First Launch isn’t just a space game, it’s a cosmic comedy about learning to fall… upwards. 🌌

Imagine a park in Michigan with a gameplay of Stary and an objectife placement of Banjo-Tooie. If that's your thing.
