About MotionRec

Rec, the civilization-recording robot

MotionRec is a recording-based puzzle action game built around the concept of recording and playback. Use this ability to guide Rec, the civilization-recording robot, through a devastated world.

The power of MotionRec

You can record the trajectory of your movements, from walking to jumping. Use stage gimmicks to create and record more complex movements to traverse the world.
Record your movements......and play them back in another location! This will let you reach places too high to jump up to, or even access spots where there's nothing to stand on. You can only play back your movements a certain number of times midair, however, and this is refreshed every time you land on the ground.Make good use of the MotionRec ability to unravel the mysteries behind this devastated world ruled by machines!

✦ AI summary

Players praise this puzzle platformer for its clever core mechanic, excellent level design, and striking 1-bit pixel art paired with great sound design. The puzzles are generally considered well-balanced and satisfying, though some feel the main campaign is a bit too easy until the optional post-game content ramps up the difficulty. It's consistently described as a short but memorable experience perfect for puzzle game enthusiasts.

A sweet, cleverly made game that gave me a good couple of hours. I enjoyed the secret extra side challenges for the extra notes, and the puzzles definitely felt satisfying to figure out - however, I will admit that after some time it became frustrating at points, which was entirely a skill issue on my half, but it meant that I was not inclined to do a full completion of the game nor continue into the post-game areas. Regardless, it was still a good game and if on sale / you're a big fan of platformer puzzle games, it's a solid entry!

The core mechanic of recording and playing back your movements is implemented excellently, and is really well explored by the puzzles which are all well designed and have some really clever extra mechanics. The required puzzles could have been a little more difficult in places, but there are some tricky optional ones which mostly make up for that. The visuals are good and very readable for a (mostly) 1-bit colour scheme. And the music is equally high quality, while the simple, dialogue-free story has plenty of heart (largely thanks to the cute robot player character), some great moments, and some effective environmental storytelling. A slightly more complex story with one or two non-player characters could have elevated the game even higher, but what's there does the job well enough. Definitely similar to ElecHead and Öoo, though I think I liked this a bit more than either of those.

this game is really good

打發時間不錯,難度適中,稍微可惜這個機制似乎能發揮的空間大致上就這樣,沒有太多超有趣的謎題,後面謎題稍稍重複率有點高,結局倒是有點驚喜。

A cute, sometimes slightly mind bending puzzler I'd recommend taking your time with and playing over the course of months. It gives you little bite-sized puzzles to chew on when you have to go deal with your day again, and something to do in the idle moments thereof.
