About Murim Survival

Survive to the End

Inspired by Vampire Survivors and Diablo, Murim Survival is a roguelite RPG focused on equipment looting and character growth. Break through the pouring waves of monsters in a ruined world, and engage in a final showdown with powerful enemies that arrive after 15 to 20 minutes of bloody battle.

Grow Your Hero and Become the Supreme Master of Murim

Do not fear defeat. Through exploration and combat, you can acquire powerful equipment and martial arts, and steadily grow by interacting with NPCs you meet in the Hideout. Some of them will become your reliable companions. Also, as you repeatedly use martial arts to build up your Mastery, you will surely reach a higher level in your next expedition.

Experience the Ruined Murim and Uncover Its Secrets

The current Murim, established by the legendary martial artist Mujin, is now on the path of ruin after 500 years of prosperity. All Righteous Sects have been annihilated, and monsters and bandits swarm everywhere. To make matters worse, an infectious disease known as Madness has spread, plunging the world into uncontrollable chaos. Amidst this chaotic world, the protagonist Sowoon embarks on a perilous journey to cure the Madness consuming him. Face many adversities and truths throughout your journey, grow, and be reborn as a hero. The end of the story is in your hands.

✦ AI summary

Players praise this polished survivor-like for its satisfying build variety and engaging gameplay once you get into collecting upgrades, with most finding it surprisingly fun and well-executed. However, complaints center on the progression system being gated by boss clears, which can leave players feeling stuck since failing a map boss provides no progression and even caps gold, forcing an awkward choice between grinding a trivial easy mode or repeatedly attempting the same boss with no advancement.

When I first played this, I didn't think much of it. Sat in my steam lib for ages. finally decided one day to turn it back on. Man, I cannot recommend this enough. Once you start collecting active skills and upgrade points you can truly make some monstrous builds. It's challenging as well with lots to discover and complete. Highly recommended.

A very tenuous recommendation if you like survivor style games. It's a mostly competent survivor clone, hampered by some baffling decisions. One of those being that it limits progression by which maps you have cleared, meaning that unlike other survivor style games, you can get 'stuck' if you cannot clear a map boss. Since 99% of the difficulty is the boss at the end of the map, this can feel sort of obnoxious since you are clearing an entire map to retry the boss with zero progression (it even caps your gold, so you're not making ANY sort of progress while 'stuck'). To 'fix' this, there is a difficulty setting that makes it trivial when set to Easy... but that's sort of stupid. Survivor style games have a BUILT IN fix to the problem of a difficulty settings via meta progression. They only need the hamfisted difficulty option because they broke the meta progression these games normally have by gating it per map. Overall though, I think I mostly enjoyed it. The weapons are reasonably functional with a broad enough array of options. The story is basically nonexistent but what little is there is better than most survivor games (...which is basically nothing), the game is fairly sho…
