My Little Dictator

4/10 Went into this expecting a historical parody like eiyu senki, and while it kinda is, the game can't decide if it wants to take itself seriously or not. Tries to be cute and funny with the gender swapped dictators and generals, but then spends the first half of the game lecturing the player to remind them that you are on the wrong side. As if that really needed to be stated. It's even more ridiculous that one complaining about genocide and racism is Japanese, as if they weren't just as bad as the nazis if not worse. The writing is really bad, and they should have chosen a lane and stuck with it. The game also ends abruptly, skipping much of the last 3 years of the war. The combat isn't much better. You send out a single unit into 1v1 battles. If that sounds like pokemon, it is. Only it is much worse. Enemy units often out level yours, and there is no rhyme or reason to weaknesses and resistance. Sometimes machine guns will cut right through a tank's armor. RNG also favors the enemy, as player units will often miss or fail to stun, while the cpu doesn't have that problem. Just save yourself the trouble and play on easy to skip the battles. For such a seemingly silly concept, the dialogue is great and the story is RIDICULOUSLY long. Highly recommend checking this game out if you're a fan of: -WW2 History -Anime Visual Novels -Pokemon-like battles featuring military units -Morally Ambiguous Cute Girls -Ethnic Cleansing I hope this team makes another game in the future. I'll buy it if they do.

If I were to sum up my thoughts about this game, it's that it is much better than it has any right to be. This game, for those who might not know, plays like a visual novel occasionally interspersed with battles in the style of Pokemon. The plot follows the conflicts present in World War 2, except with a more comedic, anime feel. It sounds daft, but it's executed way better than one might think. To be more in-depth, I'll start with the writing, which is actually quite well-done! The technical aspect here is good, having little to no typos or grammatical errors. But the subjective aspects--the humor and characters and whatnot--is also great as well. The characters are entertaining and even if the game is mostly reading text on a screen, it's still fun to play. The art is also quite nice as well. And that's both the standard art you get in the visual novel sections, and the pixel art you get in the fight sections. It's all pretty and/or cute! Though this isn't to say the game is perfect. My main gripe is that the fighting sections seem to lack much in the way of strategic complexity. It could just be my lack of experience of games of this style, but it feels like it mostly boils …

The story is really good and funny if you are into anime and WW2. The combat is quite RNG though. I played on the hardest difficulty and I sometimes regret it.

"I can fix her the cope simulator" Fun spin on history with suprising accuracy and well written characters. Story starts strong with alot of fun character building. Unfortunately later part of the game is mostly combat which is not very good though, unit types don't really matter as its best to always pick highest level units with most stun capabilities. There is no point in trying to counter specific unit with logic countermeasure (tank vs antitank gun, mg vs infantry, etc.) as it always is just about raw damage and stunlocking your opponent. Also rng is sometimes very frustrating. I think game should have either not have the combat system at all as it does not change the plot in any way or make it more strategic by making you think about your force composition to counter the enemy.
