✦ AI summary
Players appreciate My Pet Hotel 2 as a relaxing, accessible pet management sim with good variety in animals and breeds, plus decent longevity and quality-of-life improvements over the first game. However, many find it shallow and outdated for modern standards, with complaints about compatibility issues on newer systems and a general lack of depth that leaves some feeling the experience is too simplistic, though casual players who enjoy low-pressure gameplay seem to enjoy it more.

It's certainly better than the first one, but that's not really saying much. For an early 2000s animal sim game I'd give it 3/5 stars, as I didn't not enjoy playing it. Pros: Variety of Animals - Horses, dogs, cats, budgies, rabbits, guinea pigs, and fish Variety of Breeds - There are 3-8 breeds of every species available, and they seem pretty evenly balanced Extra Challenge - Each mission has two optional challenge objectives, the completion of which will allow you to upgrade the visual appeal of the hotel grounds Character Customization - You can change certain aspects of your avatar's appearance, this was not possible in the first game Running - Your avatar is allowed to run, an improvement from the first one Playtime - Took me about 50 hours to fully complete the game Sale Price - Get it on sale with the familyplay bundle and it will cost you about $1.50 Cons: Clothes - Early 2000s fashion went out of style for a reason Speed - There's still no way to speed up time, this can make the first couple of missions drag, but once there are three or more different species there at once it picks up Normal Price - I honestly don't know if the asking price of $15 is a moral travesty, o…2 found this helpful

It doesn’t aim for realism or deep strategic systems; instead, it focuses on routine, accessibility, and the quiet satisfaction of keeping animals happy and well cared for. The result is a game that feels gentle and structured, designed for players who prefer a low-pressure experience over complex management challenges. The gameplay revolves around overseeing the daily operations of your pet hotel. Animals arrive in your care, each with their own needs, and it’s your job to ensure they are fed, cleaned, exercised, and kept comfortable. These responsibilities are handled through straightforward, task-based interactions that function like small mini-games. Whether you’re refilling food bowls, cleaning enclosures, or checking on an animal’s condition, each action is easy to understand and repeat. This creates a consistent loop that is simple to learn and immediately approachable. As you progress, the game introduces light management elements that allow you to expand…1 found this helpful
