Mysteries Under Lake Ophelia

I enjoyed this little fishing game. Despite the tags, it really does not have much 'horror' in it. The guy who sells equipment to you sometimes hints at there being an underlying mystery to the lake, or rumors of people vanishing around it... but that's about as far as the 'horror' goes besides the ending. I 'did' see people in the steam forums mention that a monster can spawn in the woods at night, but it must be a very rare spawn. I got 100% achievements and nearly played for 10 hours, but never saw the creature... and I was often checking the distance and nearby for any changes during the day and night. The games plays well, has some nice atmosphere, a cute art style, and was honestly pretty relaxing. In terms of fishing, keep in mind you can 'reel' in slowly, but it only seems possible if using a controller with pressure sensitive inputs that the game recognizes. I did not need this until going for the last few Discus fish for the achievement that requires you to empty the lake. That's it for the 'review' portion. Lovely little game, I liked all the fish a lot. Feels like a dream that makes you feel both nostalgic and uncomfortable

As a big fan of Fatum Betula i really wanted to like this game too but unfortunately i really didn't. Apart from the ending it basically is just a regular fishing game with imo pretty sub-par fishing mechanics and an OST consisting of a single song replaying every now and then. The ending itself had some neat elements but even disregarding the use of AI left me feeling kind of unsatisfied. All in all i'd unfortunately recommend skipping this one

I think this is the perfect relaxing game more than anything I’ve played in my life. It sells itself as nostalgic with an aire of “horror,” but I find it to be so perfectly peaceful like nothing I’ve ever played, or like an experience locked away deep in my childhood. The nights in this game get so dark, but I never find anything but solace in them. I stayed at a lake like this as a child and that’s the only time I can recall the night’s trees to not hold any sense of fear in them. Like everything was beautiful and nothing in the night could harm me. My dad used to talk about how little he was looked after as a child, and that he used to run away and fish in the forests as a kid. It feels like that exact same vibe from this game. No matter where I am in my life no matter what I’m going through, this kid will always be off by the lake, fishing and breathing the forest’s fresh air. When I open this game I will always be brought back to that perfect peaceful memory. Locked away in time and frozen in perfect tranquility. Recommended to me after showing off my list of "fish"-type games, this is a nice fishing game with a little mystery to it, a nice little edge of discomfort that I find alluring. Simple yet enjoyable. FISH/10
