Nancy Drew®: The Haunting of Castle Malloy

Genuinely one of the hardest, most frustrating Nancy Drew games I've ever played. I played on senior detective mode and found myself needing to search online for a particular puzzle in the middle, which still involved me making a dozen notes trying to understand how the answer was found. As a long-term fan of Nancy Drew games, some of the mechanics in this game took some getting used to and I got stuck a couple times just because I didn't walk close enough to activate the interaction cue. You will find yourself making multiple fatal errors throughout the game, particularly during some final puzzles. However, solving these puzzles was ultimately extremely rewarding and despite its difficulty, I still highly recommend this to any Nancy Drew fans looking for a bit more of a challenge. (You'll definitely need a notebook for this one)

Man, I really don't know whether to reccomend this one or not. First, the good: - Spooky vibes are on point - Music goes HARD - *some* of the puzzles are excellent - The world is really fun to explore - The story and mystery are excellent - Drink minigame goes HARD Now the bad: - Most of the characters are quite bland - The late game puzzles vary from tedious to downright excrutiating (looking at you chemicals) - The final area of the game is agonizing to get through. It kills the story's momentum and has nothing but overly complicated puzzles that aren't even remotely fun to do. This is the part of the game that takes this game from being great to being borderline bad. I think overall this game *does* have it's merits to playing it and is definitely enjoyable for the first 75% of the game. Just look up a guide for the final area, it's truly agony. 6/10

The retro level design, the voices, and the whole atmosphere are very cozy, with a touch of creepiness and whimsical elements. For example: Why does the groom’s best friend have to sleep on a fold-out bed in the entrance of a castle ruin that doesn’t even have a roof? We will never know. I found that entertaining, just like the funny ways of sinking into the bog or dying in other ways. But the puzzles are a total nightmare, and you’re always thinking, “Okay, this is the puzzle where I’m going to get stuck.” That was very stressful.

your tolerance for something being a bit on the deranged side will heavily affect how much you like this one, but PERSONALLY i liked it a lot. i like when Drew games allow for a bit of exploration and this has that, i like its generally spooky vibe, the setting is fun, the puzzles are on the challenging side, and its story although baffling in some ways is really fun.

I enjoyed the sheep shearing and the atmosphere. Puzzles were challenging, yet doable.

The game was terrible. The plotline was absurd, and I couldn't get past the final puzzle. The best part was playing the drum at the pub. It was quite enjoyable.
