Developed and published by Her Interactive, Nancy Drew: Trail of the Twister offers a refreshing take on the long-running detective series by placing its mystery in the heart of tornado country. Rather than relying on haunted locations or ancient legends, this installment centers on modern meteorological research and the unpredictable power of nature. Nancy Drew is assigned to assist a team of storm researchers competing for a lucrative scientific prize, but a string of suspicious accidents threatens both the project and the people involved. What begins as an investigation into damaged equipment gradually evolves into a compelling mystery filled with hidden agendas, workplace rivalries, and carefully concealed secrets. The game's greatest achievement is its ability to transform weather science into an engaging gameplay mechanic. Players become immersed in the daily operations of a professional storm research team, learning about tornado formation, forecasting technology, and field equipment while investigating acts of sabotage. The educational elements never feel forced, as they naturally complement the unfolding narrative. Instead of interrupting the adventure, scientific concept…1 found this helpful
So mundane compared to other ND games. Most of the puzzles are the same throughout the game and stem from everyday chores given to Nancy by other characters. There is no problem-solving in the game, and most, if not all, of her discoveries are stumbled upon while working on the farm. Good for a short play, but I wouldn't recommend if looking for a challenge.
As an avid Nancy Drew game player and long-time fan of the franchise, Trail of the Twister is by far my least favorite game of HeR Interactive that I've played. It's very puzzle heavy and light on the story, making it feel more like performing chores than playing a game. The narrative isn't nearly as engrossing as the others, and the drive to complete the game was very low for me. The puzzles tended to come with less instruction than needed sometimes, and I had to use online hints waaaaaaay more than normal. I usually use one or two a game, but for this one I needed it more often than not. There weren't as many interesting plot points as the other games have, which weren't balanced well with the number of tasks or effort/time required to complete them. Very disappointed in this installment of the series.
This one's hella underrated. Sure the mystery isn't all that compelling, but the puzzles and characters are where this game shines! Pa' has my heart and so do his pennies. I genuinely loved 90% of the puzzles in this one. Don't let the haters get you down, if you want a puzzle power house of a Nancy Drew, this is the one. 8/10
it works with windows 11. I do not like this game. i found the final reveal to be anti-climactic. i would not recommend purchasing at full price, it took me about 6 hours to complete while hunting for achievements.
Worst game ever! Some of the characters were unlikable, the plotline was absurd, and the puzzles were extremely difficult. Overall, the game was very insipid.
