Polylithic

This game is excellent I think. The graphics are decent and rather charming with excellent lighting and shaders. The characters in the campaign have very cool and creative names and outfits. There is limited character customization (which I appreciate both in it being there and being limited that way you will look accurate to the time period). The villages you can build are very cool looking and are accurate to the time period as far as I can tell. I also do very much like the beauty of the terrain and the different biomes; there are beautiful forests, grasslands, savannahs, deserts, and polar/snowy forests. There is a lot to explore and a lot to do, you'll never really be bored with this game. I also rather like the fact that, if you so choose, you may migrate your tribe to another spot on the map, this way you can be nomadic just as [most] people would've been back then. There are also a lot of resources to forage from so you can really lean into the hunter-gatherer lifestyle you are fulfilling (you'll be both hunting and gathering a lot xD). i get this is early access, but the amount of bugs and constant objectives not responding or working in any way makes this game unplayable.

For an early access game, I think this has a lot of potential. It's entertaining and innovative in the way it develops. Love it!

Two things I have to say about this game. 1.) I enjoyed it, which was surprising since I dont like "survival games". But the survival aspect that deals with regular attacks (Here your camp gets attacked by wild creatures instead of the usual zombies or cannibals or whatnot you get in most) was a relativly small part. 2.) That being said, it is not what I was looking for, which was a game where combat needs to be initiated by you, for example by hunting, and where you spend your time trying to basicly manage your tribe and gather resouces and build stuff. Unfortunatly, even that small part of constantly getting attacked by wild animals for whatever reason (I dont understand why that mechanic seems to be neccesary in all similar games) is so much of a turn-off for me, that I will not play this game further. Fazit: If you like survival/builders and like something different then the usual post apocalypse or mysterious island, this game may be for you. If you are more into building games or farming/life sims, you should probably pass. Unless they decide that you can completly turn off those stupid camp attacks in the options. "Polylithic" in Latin means "many stones" but really the developer meant to say "low poly stone age", but I guess Latin is a dead language and the Latin police aren't showing up any time soon. Anyway what this is is a low poly (looks bad on purpose) strategy/city builder/tribe management game akin to Sapiens (which is better than this of course) that's deep, deep in development hell. The developer made a core promise to complete and fully publish the game by November 2024, and broke that promise. Instead, it's deep in development hell and the developer kicks the can down the road on this, pushing just enough empty, token updates to avoid the dreaded Steam Early Access warning about the game being abandoned. Speaking about the game as it is today (and this will probably never change... remember, this was supposed to be fully completed 2 years ago), it's an unpolished mess... sure, many of the core game elements work, but it's really clunky. Production chains are badly designed. The AI is a dogs breakfast, and frankly it's frustrating playing a game and watching NPCs getting stuck on rocks etc. That's not okay. There's no speed difference between sprinting and running, missing control features, couldn't aim and move camera at the same time, npc animations missing, body vanished after dying and many, many more issues.
