Decent arena shooter with bots. Cheap, especially on sale. Bots are semi decent but not really smart; you will not confuse them with people. Lighting could be better, bots could be better, maps should be tighter. Music is calm, too calm. Weapon sound effects are too mild. But this game is almost there. Almost. Open Arena or Alien Arena are better versions of this. It needs more / better maps and improved AI. It does work though, it can be pretty fun. Not a terrible arena shooter, fun for a while. I'm hesitantly recommending this if you have fps arena friends or if you are too curious and can't help yourself.

Neptune: Arena FPS, developed and published by GENOVA Softworks, is an unapologetic throwback to the golden age of competitive first-person shooters. Rather than chasing modern trends like hero abilities, seasonal content, or extensive progression trees, the game embraces a design philosophy rooted in speed, precision, and player mastery. From the moment players enter its futuristic battlefields, it becomes apparent that Neptune was created with longtime fans of arena shooters in mind. Its premise is refreshingly simple: arm yourself, stay in motion, and outplay your opponents through skill alone. The game's biggest strength lies in its commitment to traditional arena FPS mechanics. Matches are built around quick movement, weapon control, and map awareness, demanding constant engagement from players. Every encounter feels immediate, with little room for hesitation. Neptune's featured modes, including classic Deathmatch and the ever-demanding Instagib mode, reinforce this philosophy by rewarding reflexes and accuracy over unlocks or stat advantages. In Deathmatch, success often comes down to understanding weapon placements and controlling key areas of the map, while Instagib offers…
Rating
3/10
Intro
It gets the basics of Quake 3 Arena correct, like the movement and shooting mechanics. But like most indie multiplayer arena shooters, it lacks the content and polish to be worthwhile and quite a few oversights.
Positives
+ Offline bots. + Good soundtrack. + Good weapon variety.
Negatives
- Weapons lack impact. - There's only six maps. - Finding online matches is not easy. - Deathmatch and Instagib are the only game modes. - Levels are either cramped spaces or long stretches of nothing. - Not possible to lose to the bots in Practice Mode. Since their kills don't tally, for some reason.
