I played through both Nexomon and Nexomon Extinction. Since this is a game made for PC first, I'll start with the positives over that of Nexomon. Positives: PC-first game approach. The game, while still having some of the mobile game aesthetic, is actually a really good PC rendition of the prequel. The UI was revamped to have some care put behind it, such as having menus to help slow confirmations just enough so you're not pressing something you don't mean to. I can see the stamina meter along with the HP meter, the UI doesn't take up half the screen or overlap important text with other things on the screen, etc. Designs for the Nexomon. They were good in the original, but I feel like Extinction ramped up some of the design space for Nexomons (both new and existing renditions) to another level. For those that are new, it feels like they were made with a higher standard in mind than the original. For the pre-existing Nexomon that return in this one, in some capacity (with 1 exception because it didn't change much except for posing), the new redesigns felt like they had a lot of care put into them and it absolutely shows and pays off. Nexomon evolution overhaul. …

Pretty solid game that is based off of another creature capture game that shall not be named. But seriously, it is a fun game. To close the game though you have to press "i" and then exit to title screen. after that you either Alt+F4 or somehow close the game window if you have a key configuration.

Recommendation The sequel to VEWO's 2017 monster collector/battler, Extinction offers a broad range of improvements in many areas, yet unfortunately fails to improve in others. First, let's start with the positives. Most noticably, the world design has been significantly improved, ditching the overly segmented, strictly linear game world of its predecessor in favour of a more open, interconnected layout with less railroading and more revisiting of previous areas. Secondly, the addition of permanent upgrades like the elemental whistles and EXP cores makes for a more compelling sense of player progression. Thirdly, the addition of the Ghost and Psychic types makes for more battle options and flavours of monsters to find. The addition or power cores to customize your Nexomon's stats is also an interesting idea (even if it amounts to little more than filling your team's slots with EXP cores for almost the entire game). Finally, the story is considerably improved (albeit still hardly what I'd call high art). These are all solid improvements, and for the most part render the original obsolete (even if I think the original's monster designs are a little better). How…

The amount of times they break the 4th wall for some self-deprecating "humor" is too dang high. It's never actually funny, ruins the storytelling, and breaks any sense of immersion.
