Been playing Civilization since it was released in 1991. Civ 7 has been a disappointment, and after struggling to try to like it, I've given up. I simply don't want to invest my time into learning a game that is not ultimately enjoyable. I had purchased Old World awhile back, and it sat in my library. After looking for recs from other Civilization refugees, I found Old World mentioned a lot. So I gave it a shot. Wow. It has catapulted me back to 1991 when I lost sleep staying awake for "just one more turn." Yep, it's that addictive. No surprise really since its designer did Civ IV. It has classic Civ in its DNA. I'm not far into it, but I am learning, putting in the time, getting my ass handed to me by other kingdoms, but the time investment feels worth it. Just remember: It might have Civ DNA but it is its own entity. If you know Civ, you will have to approach this game with an open mind. Don't get frustrated because 35 years of Civ gameplay doesn't translate here and bounce. Put in the time. Play and experiment. Make mistakes and instead of rage quitting, follow through and watch what happens. Ultimately ask yourself, is this game fun? For me the answer is an emphatic, "You…1 found this helpful
An amazing successor to what is arguably the best game in the Civilization series: Civilization IV. The DLCs add a tremendous amount of content, and everything feels fairly priced - especially if you pick them up during a sale. I simply can't get enough of this game. It perfectly captures the addictive "just one more turn before I go to sleep" magic that defines the best Civilization games.
Good game, very in-depths in terms of the mechanic. The events really makes you feel part of the story. Suffers from short campaign tho (only mediaval era)

There are a lot of strategy games out in the market, probably the best known is Sid Meier's line of Civilization. This is a game well rounded to be part of the genre and sit at the table with such a lofty companion. It involves a bit more of the daily nuances of running a kingdom, develops the world a bit differently than others of this genre. But it is an interesting difference that makes the game a bit of a challenge and a joy to play.
