About Once Upon a Rogue's Tale
"Once Upon a Rogue's Tale” combines strategic roguelike deckbuilding with the luck of the dice. Roll the dice and trade them in battle to play your cards. Dice also allow you to unleash powerful character abilities to your advantage.
Out of combat, you'll encounter events that will confront you with tough decisions. The choices you make will affect how the story unfolds, which will be written down in your personal storybook.
The fairytale worlds have mixed...
Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and The Frog Prince find themselves in an adventurous tangle of fairytales. Choose one of the classic characters, make your own decisions and influence the course of the story. Team up with strong allies and collect magical items to help you on your way through the colorful fairytale world.
Strategical deepness through positioning
Positioning is especially important in battles with multiple opponents and adds strategic depth to the game. Use certain abilities to influence the position of your characters and apply special effects to your opponents to be able to attack them from anywhere.
Battle between good and evil
Each character has their own motivations that have led them to the good or evil side. But ultimately, the decision is yours: will former villains become new friends or will you turn the entire fairytale world against you? Your actions determine the fate of the fairytale characters and blur the lines between friend and foe.

Initially I was very excited for this title but after 6 months of no updates (last update in Nov 2024) I can't in good faith recommend the gmae as is as the gmae has no replay value at all. It's just not fun.8 found this helpful
So epically, unbelievably slow
Once Upon a Rogue's Tale is a storybook-inspired roguelike deckbuilder that blends tactical card play, dice-driven decision-making, and branching narrative choices into a playful yet strategic experience. Really cute game! Deserves more attention
I just need one major (IMO) bug fixed and I will happily recommend the game. When playing as Jack, if someone has the Wonder Tendrils and their target dies from any other means, the game freezes and does not continue combat. Other than that, this game is definitely in my collection to stay. UPDATE: current small patch 06 fixed my issue. Great game and Great developers.
Nice game. Firstly I thought that it's a strange attempt in "Slay the Spire". I didn't like dices instead of energy mechanic and long fairy tale stories instead of short descriptions in events, but after two chapters of Demo I started to like this game. My favourite part of the game are different playable characters with unique set of abilities and so rather different playthroughs. Like Frog Prince is a cool character, because he can hit several enemies at a time, and I like his synergy with Gingerbread Witch. Jack character is hard to understand, but also quite enjoyable. In addition, first chapter of the game provides unique setting for different characters, which is really nice. And of course art style is just perfect. What could be better? Stories are quite simple right now. Dices mechanic instead of energy - not sure, if it even needed. Overall, it's a good card game. P.S. Not sure, if it's a good thing or not, but I didn't die even once :)
