Worth to pick up on sale. PROS: - A fun little game were a run doesn't take to much time to complete or fail. - The upgrade speed when you reach the final ore is so satisfying CONS: - I really, really, really don't like the fall damage. It feels like you fall way to fast and have to play so slow to avoid this. Most of my runs failed because falling damage. - Also disapointed that the ancient relics don't give a passive buff for your next run. Doesn't feel worth collecting - Took me 3 tries to even start the game and it crashed once. But when you get it to run it seems to be more stable to exit out and run it normally instead of the OpenGL version

TLDR: A genuinely good game, With a very low price point, absolutely worth picking it up. Gameplay is similar to what you would find in Steamworld Dig or Dome Keeper, that is; dig for resources, then return to base for upgrades to more efficiently collect resources. The loop is fun, the physics and movement feel markedly good, and the combat, while very easy, feels interesting for this genre. My only complaint is that the game seems to have been designed... Oddly? I'll explain; there is a depth of mechanics with some of the items you can pick up, that just feels wholly unnecessary for anything. I had assumed that the existence of the crossbow would mean eventually combat would increase in difficulty to the point of it being necessary but... It just doesn't. Combat is linear and quite trivial, after you first encounter with each enemy type the odds of taking damage against them are near zero. So it seems odd to me that time and energy was spent into adding that to the game, when the things to use it on are so... Unworthy of it? In addition, several of the 'treasures', the things that make this game a roguelike (though I'll note I don't think the dev(s?) have actually claimed t…

The ultimate essence of a mining game in the smallest package. Dig. Upgrade. Some minor combat. A great treasure. And, the ultimate challenge: a king that wants tribute, and ... he'd get a lot more money if he taxed you a little less :-) Said tribute/tax is basically a timer -- do at least this good by this point in the game or else.

OREBLAZE is a retro-inspired mining adventure that successfully combines roguelike progression, resource gathering, and light action into a rewarding gameplay experience. Developed and published by Ludiminal Games, the title casts players as a hardworking miner tasked with satisfying a greedy monarch's endless appetite for precious minerals. While the premise is simple, it serves as the foundation for an addictive gameplay loop centered on exploration, calculated risk-taking, and gradual character improvement. Every journey underground feels like an opportunity to uncover valuable treasures while carefully managing limited resources and surviving increasingly dangerous conditions. The game's greatest strength lies in its mining mechanics and progression system. Each expedition sends players into procedurally generated caves filled with ores ranging from common minerals to rare, high-value treasures hidden deep below the surface. Choosing whether to return safely with collected resources or continue digging for even greater rewards creates a constant sense of tension. The collected wealth is not merely for profit, as it also contributes to expanding the kingdom's facilities and upg…

The game is engaging, looks good, and has a really enjoyable sound design. While the roguelike mechanics are mostly tacked on, as there is not a lot of random elements and very few upgrades, you can still easily get a few hours of fun gameplay just by learning about the core mechanics. The game sort of feels like an incredibly solid and well polished "prototype" or "pitch" for a more expanded version of itself. I hope we get a sequel.
