Love the comic art style. Love the character interactions. Love the world setting. Love the game plays. It may not be the most unique game out there, but what I have seen so far is very clean. Dev, I hope you get rewarded for your hard works.

Outcast Tales: The First Journey is an entertaining tactical RPG and roguelite hybrid that understands how much personality can improve a strategy-focused adventure. Rather than relying exclusively on complicated combat mechanics, it combines turn-based encounters with character traits, relationships, unpredictable events, and meaningful choices. The result is a relatively compact experience that works particularly well as an introduction to a broader concept. Hardlane Studio handles development, while CRITICAL REFLEX serves as publisher, and the collaboration delivers a game with a distinctive identity rather than another conventional post-apocalyptic RPG. Combat revolves around assembling a small group of unusual survivors and learning how their abilities complement one another. Enemies include mutants, robots, raiders, and other wasteland threats, many of which possess characteristics that encourage players to identify weaknesses instead of repeatedly relying on the same attacks. Outcast Tales: The First Journey is a free tactical RPG that mixes turn based combat with roguelite runs, random events and a surprisingly strong focus on the personalities of the characters I take with me. I am putting together a small crew and sending them across a dangerous wasteland where things can go wrong pretty quickly. The whole thing has a Wild West feel mixed with a strange post apocalyptic setting, and I like how the game does not take itself too seriously. It feels like I am creating a small story with every run instead of simply moving from one battle to another. The character system is probably my favourite part. I can combine different classes and personalities, and those choices affect the abilities my characters have as well as some of the situations I can deal with outside combat. I like that a character is not just a collection of statistics. Their personality actually matters, and different combinations can make the same journey play out differently. It gives me a reason to experiment with the crew instead of always picking exactly the same setup. Combat is simple enough to understand but still gives me some things to think about. Fun little free game, way worth a try. And I say free game instead of demo because we will probably never get the proper release, but this is fine.
