For a game that's this minimalist, this game crashes a lot. I've even run into the issue of saves being corrupted, and of course because the game only ever keeps one save, you end up being required to create backups of your saves all the time. Yikes. There's also one major problem and that is you're locked out of the vault (item sharing between your characters) if you run any mods the developer hasn't whitelisted. Want to create a sub-mod? Well too bad, now a key feature of the steam release is locked. The logic behind that is "we want to stop cheaters". Like dude, not only are you not going to stop cheaters, but who the heck cares? It's a single player game being pushed into an always online mode. Otherwise the game is fairly fun even if the balance is a hot stinking mess, but it's also dragged down with bad code and bad direction. Unacceptable.

Classic. Variable. I found my next few years of fun at least.

Great and unique roguelike with deep combat mechanics and a focus on build-crafting. Pros: - Highly replayable due to diversity of builds possible. Refining a plan for your character build over multiple runs until you get a win is very satisfying - Deep combat mechanics with a focus on tactical positioning, skill combos, etc. - Lots of lore (I don't care about this personally but many do) - Lots of loot and interesting uniques - Lots of content - Difficult, but only unfair if you choose to make it so - Meta-progression is limited to unlocking new character build options rather than increasing power, so you're building a sense of mastery with each run rather than grinding out long-term power/resources Cons: - Difficulty spikes are wild. there are numerous dungeons that can take a good amount of time to clear, so you will probably use autoexplore a lot as it's pretty easy to faceroll most of them. this unfortunately lulls you into a false sense of safety, which is broken by suddenly get one-shot by a random unique you didn't stop to read all the stats/abilities of. Thankfully the multiples lives in adventure mode makes this not completely end your run, I think there's too much slo…

One time I was playing this game while chatting with me lad Doug and he started screaming at me so I got sad and then killed a monster.

Very good UX. I really like the mouse gesture hotkey system. It makes the game much more accessible, and chilled to play.

Lots of good fun but refuses to launch past the menu screen on Mac. Why must Steam on Mac be so terrible?
