This works on Arch Linux + Valve Index (headset) + XBone (controller) + Proton + Nvidia 2080 + SteamVR 2.8.6 with the flags -vrmode openvr

Overload Playable Teaser 3.0 is basically a small taste of what the full Overload is about, but I think it does a really good job of showing why the game is worth paying attention to. It is a six degree of freedom shooter from the creators of Descent, so I am flying through fully three dimensional environments instead of being restricted to a normal floor and ceiling. I can move in every direction while fighting robots, looking for targets and trying to keep track of where I am. It takes a little getting used to, but once the movement clicks, it feels really good. The controls are probably the strongest part for me. Being able to freely move forwards, backwards, sideways and vertically gives the combat a completely different feeling from a normal FPS. I can turn around quickly, dodge attacks and use the space around me instead of simply hiding behind cover. The game also gives me a proper training level before throwing me into the main action, which helps because six degree of freedom movement can feel confusing at first. Once I get comfortable with it, moving through the levels becomes almost as enjoyable as the shooting itself. The teaser gives me one sample single player style…
