Paranormal Detective: Escape from the 90's

[h1] Gameplay and Features [/h1] This is the sequel for Paranormal Detective: Escape from the 80s, a game which I reviewed very negatively, even going as far as blaming it for the bad fame of Virtual Reality in the minds of people. So, did it improve from the first game? The first one was published in 2019, this one in 2022, so three years later. Half-Life: Alyx was already out and many other good VR games (e.g. Into The Radius) have been successful, providing solid standards for VR game developers to follow. Did this game improve? Yes. Now it has options. Which options? Only related to locomotion: now you have smooth turning and smooth locomotion, even with speed settings. Nice! Oops. Smooth locomotion works but has no strafing? Instead of walking around like a normal person, you walk like you're driving a car or stranded in a wheelchair? And still, no graphical options at all. Nothing to help immersion. No shadows, no effects, no improved textures, nothing. And no accessibility options either, which for a physical VR game it's nigh an evil thing to do. What about the gameplay? Nothing seems to have changed. The interaction with the objects is still terrible. No pouring cof…

6/10 - O.K About 100 mins, game time. just about same as the prior 80's game. the visual, puzzles.. has extra arcade mode, which doubt any one will use. but the Red Robot Rap Music Video saves the game again. only get it sale.

Really enjoyed this, Good puzzles and great mechanics, well worth the entry fee.

I'm too dumb to collect more than 2 penguins. Hints do not help. tried cheating by looking at guides, could not even get correct scores on skeeball.

Also worthless. Skee ball as the first puzzle? Really? In VR.

After playing the prequel, my expectations have been high. So while it's still a good game on it's own, it left me with a bit of disappointment. On the good side, the location is much bigger and it took us longer to complete the game. However, the main room is quite dark and most of the elements are not interactive, at least at the beginning of the game. So it became part of the challenge to search the room for small objects, which are hard to spot. The focus of the game is a bit more on playing arcade games, which are very well implemented and which still spark some joy after solving the game.
