Perceptions of the Dead

I'm sorry, but this is... not it. It's cool as a free demo, and props to the devs for putting it out there as a passion project, but I don't think you could fairly charge money for something this short anyway. The stories are all extremely short demos/teasers, 2-3 scenes each. It reads like creepypasta a young teenager wrote - painfully cringe and full of really dated terminology and super juvenile dialogue tropes. "Uhhh it's behind me, isn't it?" type stuff the entire way through. Jeff The Killer tier writing. Inject yourself with viper venom, whip out a gun to shoot a ghost truck, then bring out your Obsidian Blade to... slash at ghost children? Sure, ok Between the poor writing, the odd overstylised deviantart-esque art style, and the complete lack of knowledge of how the real world works, I would guess this was made by kids? But why, then, was the obligatory social media star / streamer character written so caricaturishly, like they usually are when written by middle aged studio execs who have never heard of twitch? The writers namedropped 4chan and bitcoin, in both other stories for some reason, so this made no sense. The other negative reviews referred to "Andy's" dialog…

I finished story 1 of 3 in just over a half an hour then stopped for a while. Since resuming I've been playing way over an hour collectively on the second and third (stretched out mostly just to see that the extra 'choices' on the third don't change a thing). And yet... still 37 minutes total playtime (and no, not playing offline). Huh. I've never seen such an obviously exagerated playtime glitch before, though, so I'm inclined to blame Steam for it. (either that or time playing this game works inversely to the weird time thing that factors into story #2) [i]Iä! Iä! fhtagn![i]

Great game I love the stories!

Three short spooky stories with a good artstyle. Writing is a little clunky but interested in seeing the sequel.

"Perceptions of the Dead" — атмосферный хоррор с уникальной механикой восприятия. Графика мрачная, но детализированная, а звуковая сцена создаёт напряжение. Сюжет разворачивается через фрагментированные воспоминания, что добавляет загадочности. Однако линейный геймплей и минимальное взаимодействие с окружением ограничивают погружение. Подойдёт любителям психологических триллеров и атмосферных историй.
