Pieced Together

What a heart-felt little gem the devs presented us with ! I was gifted this by a friend & oh boy, did it leave me misty-eyed. While the plot is easy enough to deduce - it's the story telling along the way that carries so much emotion and impact. If you aren't a fan of narrative driven games that offer very little in way of 'action-y' gameplay - this may not be for you. For what it's worth, the artwork is very stylized and cute, as a bonus. At it's core - it is a story centered around our protagonist having to navigate the pains of growing up and watching some friendships start to fade into the background. I don't want to spoil anymore than that. ( Playing this as an adult has both re-opened old wounds and healed something too, which adds to my fondness for this title, admittedly. ) Game mechanics are simple and easy to grasp, with your main task being to paste in memories and decorate the pages with stickers. ( There are some minor puzzle aspects in some pages, as well - but nothing incredibly overstimulating. ) If you're looking for a cozy interactive story to gut punch you in the best way possible ? A game that scratches that sorting and scrapbooking itch. I enjoyed having the choice of making decisions at turning points, which made things more compelling and engaging. The duration was great, especially for an emotional story like this - if it took too long it'd have been draggy.

A touching story game with adorable graphics. The focus is on experiencing the story and, especially if you are already the main character's age or above, making you feel sentimental about losing touch with people that once meant the world to you, because that's just how life goes... The puzzle and the scrapbook mechanics are more of a tool to pull the player closer into the game, not really a challenge or elaborate creative sandbox, which is totally fine of course. I would have loved the game to be a bit longer and tell us a bit more about the main characters, especially in the later chapters. The game took me about two hours and I didn't rush, but decorated the pages and used up all my sticker sheets. So get it on sale and ideally play in one go, maybe on the couch with a nice cup of tea.
