✦ AI summary

Players appreciate that this entry streamlines the puzzle experience by removing distracting mini-games and allowing flexible puzzle-solving options, but many are put off by the outdated, visually unappealing aesthetic with washed-out brown and black tones that make some images look unpleasant and hard to work with. Some request more puzzle content, while a few praise it as a solid, relaxing puzzler for procrastination despite occasional issues with music intensity and piece highlighting that can obscure the puzzle layout.

It's dated. And you feel it. It's not the only dated installment of the series, but the one you feel it the most. While the others at least have nice to somewhat nice images to look at, these images are just ugly: blurry, desaturated, washed out colors, a color palette consisting only of brown and black tones. Some images feel like a piece of excrement smeared all over the place. With the occasional red blobs being the eyes of said roach. So that suits, I guess. And way too many highlights on the edges of the puzzle pieces, so that sometimes you're unable to see where a piece is missing, cause you have a dark background too. Of course you have... I will push through, for the sake of completing, but I'm not enjoying it and I don't see that I ever will.

Pixel Puzzles 2: RADical ROACH is a curious hybrid that merges the calm, meditative nature of jigsaw puzzling with the strange and grim aesthetic of an apocalyptic insect world. Developed and published by Pixel Puzzles, the game draws its imagery from the developer’s earlier action-shooter RADical ROACH, transforming that frantic world into static, fragmented art meant to be reassembled piece by piece. The result is an experience that feels both oddly charming and unsettling—combining traditional puzzle design with a theme that is far from serene. It is part of the Pixel Puzzles 2 series, which focuses on delivering themed collections of digital jigsaws centered around specific franchises or motifs, and this particular entry brings its own distinct identity, both in tone and presentation. The core gameplay remains simple and faithful to the genre. You are given a selection of twenty-five puzzles, each depicting a scene inspired by RADical ROACH’s radioactive, bug-ridden universe. These puzzles vary in size and difficulty, ranging from smaller grids of around sixty pieces to larger ones with several hundred. The game uses mouse-based controls, allowing players to drag, rotate, and …

Pixel Puzzles 2: RADical ROACH has quickly become my favorite in the series. It removes the annoying mini-games and tasks from previous entries, letting you focus entirely on solving puzzles without distractions. The ability to solve puzzles in any order and the option to turn off puzzle rotation are fantastic features that make the gameplay more enjoyable. The only downside for me is the music—while it might work well in other types of games, it feels a bit too hectic for a tranquil puzzle-solving experience. Overall, though, it's a solid addition to the Pixel Puzzles series!
