Plantera 2: Golden Acorn

This is basically the same as the first game. Sure it's cute, but the progression is so slow that playing it actively doesn't feel like it does much. But set it up well, and one night later, the game is complete.

It's just not fun, man

It’s almost as boring as Plantera. I don’t see the point of releasing a work like this.

Plantera 2: Golden Acorn does an excellent job addressing the weaknesses of the original. This time around, the experience feels fuller and much less of a grind. [b] [u]Issues Addressed: [/u][/b] •Minimal Variety: 5 new “items” were placed in each per category, on top of introduced fresh categories to explore. •Pitiful Upgrades: upgrades feel meaningful right after purchase for both the preexisting upgrades and the powerful card upgrade mechanic. •Long Passive End-Game Grind: This time, your planning is actually rewarded no tedious late-game grind required. •Passive Play Only: There’s now a lot more for active players to do this time, it really matters, unlike the original were staying active felt pointless. Just as a final side note, the cinematic scroll past your farm when you’re inactive is a really nice touch. The game looks great, and it’s really satisfying to see your farm progress from a distance.

Beat most of the game in a single frantic ~3h sitting, and it was a lot of fun, just like the first game. After that, it's the extensive, extended endgame. The upgrades are categorized as "god mode" and it doesn't look like there are (m)any upper limits. -I've got 25 land upgrades and there are still more available for very high prices. -plenty of room to upgrade to higher-value crops, if I want to grind out all the coins it'd cost. -no apparent limit to how many animals you can buy, or most of the "special" items -and that's before the godmode upgrades which just speed up your workers, and the generation of different resources... During this phase it's easy to get all the achievements. I'll keep at it for a while and try to get all top level trees etc but I suspect that's going to take prohibitively long.

Honestly when I found out Plantera had I sequel I just knew I had to experience the sequel and it definitely delivers. If you enjoyed the first game, this is more of the same but more refined and much more.
