It's like most Kairisoft management games. Build, wait for money to trickle in, repeat.1 found this helpful
the game constantly revolves around street fighter style fighting, where the ai controls movement of the fighter and some attacks while you can suggest light heavy attacks and blocks. its very frustrating when the AI seems to move at random, and you are trying to win. tying leveling up with this game mechanic where you are essentially 2 people with no coordination controlling the same streetfighter character is dumb and incredibly frustrating. i love most other kairosoft games, but this one aspect really kills it for me
Yep another Kairosoft game I didn't enjoy even though it looks so cool! I mean you make a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ARCADE HOW COULD I NOT LIKE IT. Just the repetitive gameplay, music and sound effects just made me instantly get bored and make me silence this game not to mention it kinda has the development system of Game Dev Story which I hate... glad I'm done with this.
5/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ After 82 hours of gameplay, I can safely say Pocket Arcade Story is an okay entry in the Kairosoft collection. If this is your first time diving into a Kairosoft title, you’ll probably enjoy it for what it is, a casual, management-style simulation that follows the studio’s familiar charm and formula. That said, compared to its console counterpart Pocket Arcade Story DX, this version feels slower, less interactive, and lacking in overall depth. The DX version offers a faster-paced experience with more features, events, and variety that make managing your arcade feel much more engaging. The sound effects are exactly what you’d expect from a Kairosoft game, simple, nostalgic, and functional. However, the music quickly becomes repetitive, with fewer than 3 tracks (I think?) looping throughout your entire playthrough. It’s not unpleasant, just something you’ll eventually tune out. Personally, I mute it and play something else in the background. If you happen to play Pocket Arcade Story first, think of Pocket Arcade Story DX as the natural sequel, a more polished and feature-rich version of the same idea. The fighting mini game is painfully awful and you need to not only play it a LOT it to advance but also grind multiple characters.
This is a fun game where you manage your own arcade, building new machines and attracting customers. While the game play is enjoyable, it’s also quite challenging. Balancing your resources, keeping your arcade running smoothly, and unlocking new features can be tough at times.
