Posthuman: Guardians vs PSION is an interactive superhero novel by Evan J. Peterson, author of Drag Star!, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based, 300,000 words and hundreds of choices, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
Decades ago, legendary hero Adam Atom created the Guardians: an elite force of posthumans to protect the world from those who use their powers for harm. In response, PSION—the Posthuman Supremacy International Organized Network—sprang up. The United Nations calls them terrorists; they call themselves a liberation army protecting posthumans from human persecution.Now PSION is hatching their most ambitious plan yet—and it's up to you and your fellow Guardians to stop them. Together with your team—super-genius Pi, teleporter Taikonaut, elementalist Moxie, healer Gilead, brilliant fighter Vogue, and Basilica (who can turn herself 20-feet tall and turn her skin to stone)—you'll travel to the moon, Mars, and all over the earth to try to unravel their plots. I've liked other Choice of Game titles, particularly in the superhero and supernatural realms. But this one just didn't do it for me. I felt like I was waiting for something to happen the entire game, but it never did. I mean, there is a superhero battle or two, but I never felt like I had a lot of agency in what transpired. The end mission was pretty good, but then the game ends. I don't feel like I got to develop many relationships, interact with the public, or hone my identity. This is like a C- experience. It's not awful, but it never gets immersive or has much of a pay off either.5 found this helpful

The world in this story is very interesting. Or so I thought. I tried going into this game with an open mind, as someone who loves the superhero genre. But I just can not recommend this game. The story is just... Not bad, but very very Meh. I won't say any spoilers, but the world this game sets up is basically X-Men's world, of Humans vs 'Mutants', aka 'Post Humans'. Those born with super powers, and those power activate some X years after they are born, like Mutants in X-Men. And Humans hate and fear the Super Powered, like X-Men, they are called Posthumans cause they are concidered the next evolution of humans.... Like X-Men. Seeing a Pattern here? But here's the most not X-Men thing in the entire game... That 'Conflict' of Humans vs Posthumans? Yeah that never actually becomes a part of the story. We HEAR it exists, we are TOLD it is. But other than like 2 humans, 1 we talk to in the very beginning of the game, and 1 is a reporter where we get a press interview live, we do not see, interact with, talk to, hear about, or communicate with any other humans again the ENTIRE game. Every other person we interact with, is a Posthuman. So they built up this entire conflict filled worl…1 found this helpful
