Qianli: The Vastscape Scroll

Since I enjoy Dorfromantik and and also started to delve into Chinese stories and mysticism and fantasy, I had a feeling I'd enjoy it. Played the demo and was proven correct. I actually like that it has a bit of a story - unlike Dorfromantik - though that cliff hanger... The game had some missing translations right after release but they fixed it within a day - so that's a good sign. Some levels are more challenging than others, which was nice. Art style is very enjoyable as well. I think the one thing I dislike a bit, is how the things the protagonist say about half way into the game are not reacted to at all - but seem to just be some flippant remarks. At some point, I stopped reading them and just read the dialogue between the aspects, which is where the actually story lies. Aside of that, can't wait for the story to continue!

Brilliant game. Such an elegant and vibrant art style, and a thoughtful, relaxing pace of play! Landscapes come to life beautifully and there are a range of power-ups (Aspects) that add different levels of strategy and rewards for challenge/exploration activities. 100% around 12 hours, and that was taking my time enjoying the characters and taking a slow, appreciative approach to building my waterside villages, mountain ranges, and forests. A creative, albeit short story with characters I would have loved to get to know more, and a number of challenges and leaderboards to chase for replayability. I would love to see a sequel with a longer narrative! Not sure why there are complaints about the English translation. I could be a perfectionist and find some awkward phrasing here and there, sure, but the presentation is pretty polished. Spotting cats for additional action points was a very cute call by the devs. Meow!

Very fun strategy game, and the visuals are enchanting. It gets progressively harder at a very good pace, I was challenged and failed some, but it didn't feel unfair. Being able to build out a lively area while also strategizing about proper placement is very engaging. If you are a fan of territory board games, I highly recommend!

this game quite relaxing, don't need too much time to unlock all steam achievements and moreover there's an online leaderboard for each challenge. Chill and competitive at the same time? even better lol

Very therapeutic, colorful, short and fun game that uses just enough of your brain to take you away from the reality. Those finding cat mini game to give you a couple more placement moves are also very brilliantly incorporated into the game.
