"Quiet Thoughts" is a sincere attempt to make a game using GameMaker Studio's crappy platformer bits, which nobody should use ever. At least the artwork doesn't look like it's asset flipped. The platformer has a bunch of gimmicks like gravity inversion, some kind of plot (I guess), but not much going for it otherwise... let's face it, no truly successful, popular game was ever made with GameMaker Studio. This is no exception. This features really godawful, lazy pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded [i]despite[/i] the bad graphics, not because of them. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Визуальный стиль, выполненный в приглушенных тонах, идеально дополняет атмосферу размышлений и созерцания. Игровой процесс представляет собой неспешное исследование окружающего мира, сбор мыслей и их визуализацию. Отсутствие четких целей и задач позволяет полностью погрузиться в процесс и прочувствовать каждое мгновение. Порой игра может показаться немного монотонной, но именно в этой монотонности и скрывается ее прелесть - она дает возможность замедлиться и прислушаться к себе. "Quiet Thoughts" - это не игра в привычном понимании, а скорее интерактивное произведение искусства, которое заставляет задуматься о важных вещах и ценить моменты тишины и уединения. Рекомендую её всем, кто ищет неспешный и рефлексивный опыт.
Challenging and cute. I probably won't finish it because it's frustrating (skill issue on my part), but I'm really impressed by the polish and quality, especially since it's the creator's first game. Really impressive work.
