✦ AI summary

Players consistently report that R.O.V.E.R. suffers from significant technical problems including broken UI at higher resolutions, poor hit detection, and AI that shoots through walls, making core gameplay frustrating and unreliable. While some appreciate its raw, old-school indie charm and solid visuals, most agree the game feels unpolished and unfinished, with lacking controls, sparse UI, and gameplay issues that overshadow any appeal, making it difficult to recommend even at bargain prices.

R.O.V.E.R. is a first person shooter made up of mostly Unreal Engine Marketplace asset flips. It's inspired loosely by S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (as all the full stops in the title should make fairly clear), but this is much, much worse. Thankfully gamers are spared from the horrors of ineptitude associated with this game, as the game itself doesn't work in very basic ways. Setting the resolution beyond 1080p causes the UI to become inoperable and sets the resolution to "None". I never saw a game with a resolution option of "None" before, so this is clearly some groundbreaking software development science here. Since that breaks the UI, the rest of the game is unplayable. Jokes aside this is asset flip garbage that doesn't even work properly. It was dumped into cheap game bundles on launch, and is really nothing but a cash grab. Avoid this one. Also worth noting the developer has direct financial connections to known Russian asset flip scammers, gamers should be aware when developers behave unethically as buying games from unethical developers is a risk.

Played on Linux using Proton, Oh boy, First off the A.I. can shoot through walls, tanks, trucks, well anything really and never miss, you the player have to be up close to kill em but it still takes a clip or two, So Gun Play/Game Play is just Bad. Graphics are sub par and look real dated, even the mighty UE4 could not save this Game, Sound is somewhat okay. I don't recommend this Game (Even on sale for 0.49p)

The game feels very raw and old school, back to the old days of shareware, where you never really knew what you were going to get for a buck or two. I must admit, there is a charm to the game, as others have said. The translations at times are rather lacking. The hit detection most of the time is rather lacking. Controls are mostly lacking. No need to worry about UI, it doesn't really exist. It's about as bare bones as it gets. The visuals is pretty solid. It's worth a few bucks to play an Indie shooter. Know what you're getting yourself in for, and its more to help out an indie dev, and find your enjoyment out of it.

PROS: Great combat system, puzzles galore well sorta, plenty of ammo. CONS: requires ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in some parts, pathing issues with ai enemies especially monsters. Overall, if ya get this game it is very similar in game play esque style of S.T.A.L.K.E.R series o date. Just need patches for some fixes but enjoyed it none the less.
