Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
So the main reason I am giving a thumbs down on this app is because it just doesn't work by default on the Meta Quest 3. It does not react to the default Quest 3 headset audio. It only worked on other sound sources (speakers). However, that's not the only reason for the down-vote. When I tested it out, it just didn't really react well with the music. Sure, it got the basic music rhythm correct. However, it was missing a lot of the music and not really reacting to all of it. I think the algorithm used to detect and react to the beat is underwhelming. Now, there is in-game music and the music visualizer works very well with those. However, the visualizer worked poorly with any of the songs I chose. There were only 5 different maps as well. It's over-priced for what it is honestly. There are better free music visualizers out there, both VR and non-VR. Rate 4/10. I only paid $3.74 USD during the most recent Steam sale, but it's not even worth it at that price IMO.
If you found this review helpful, please consider joining my Steam Curator group Oculus Rift Reviews.[/quote…

Fianlly! I can listen to Bassdrive and play CS:GO with with Raybeem streaming some visuals for me. It works very well for me. Raybeem by itself is nuts. If this is where VR is headed then I'm down for the ride.

I've learned that Bolero is meant to be heard, nay experienced while shooting a stream of colorful butterflies from your hands. Don't forget that the side grip buttons have a function too. Neat. I hope they add additional scenes to this.

Fun, trippy experience. Really does enhance listening to music. The visual animations timed to audio cues are great! One thing I noticed, if you want to use external audio like Spotify, you have to set your device in the Settings menu, which isn't in the VR menu. Change it on your computer, not in the headset.

Raybeem, developed and published by Sokay, is less a traditional game and more an experimental audiovisual experience that blurs the boundary between interactive software, digital art installation, and music visualization. Rather than offering objectives, progression systems, or challenges, it invites players to immerse themselves in sound and light, transforming music into a living, reactive environment. From the outset, it is clear that Raybeem is designed for people who enjoy exploration, mood, and sensory engagement rather than structured gameplay, making it a distinctly niche but memorable entry in the Steam catalog. At the heart of Raybeem is its role as a music visualizer that reacts dynamically to audio input. Players can load their own music or stream audio, and the software interprets the sound in real time, translating beats, frequencies, and rhythm into shifting visuals. The environments respond fluidly to changes in music, with colors pulsing, particles moving, and structures morphing based on the intensity and tone of what’s playing. This responsiveness gives each track a unique visual identity, meaning the same environment can feel entirely different depending on th…
