Red Blue Cell is an old school inspired shoot 'em up that focuses on polarity. Pretty much from the start you can see this game has such beautiful art. From the developer that created Ganablade, comes Red Blue Cell. This game is pretty simple if you’ve ever played a polarity game like Ikaruga, you’ll see that the game's mechanic revolves around you absorbing bullets that are similar to the color your ship can switch into. Besides that, You have your shoot button and special shot that can be built up by collecting mini gauges. There's great difficulty options for those looking for a casual or more challenging experience. I got a 1cc from the retro mode they have which essentially removes the polarity part of the game and gives you the challenge of playing it like an old school shoot 'em up. Just raw dodge and muscle memory lol. If you’re someone that cares about score, there are hidden extra tokens that you must shoot and obtain similar to what a caravan shmup would do. Bosses even have what's called a “perfect kill” where if you remove all parts of the boss you will get more score and also more extends in exchange. The game's length is typical for a shoot em up which is about 20…6 found this helpful
Polarity based STG that I honestly had quite a bit of fun with. Three game modes that change the way it’s played and which bullets can be absorbed. The boss rush is brutal and I have the highest score, for now. :) On top of the bosses having destructible parts, you need to also destroy parts with the correct color of weapon, sometimes having to use your burst to get the necessary ‘good’ percentage (which acts as a score multiplier). I only have minor gripes: 1. Stage two and five share the same song. 2. The boss’s backgrounds are most just black. 3. I had problems getting the leader-board to update. Does the update only happen when you quit to the menu? Dunno. 4. You can do this in the boss rush and still counts as a clear. https://youtu.be/gKdXMtJbH2k Other than that, loved it and it’s steel at less than five bucks. Liao Kai, you made a great game, and I’ll be ready for your next title.2 found this helpful
I really enjoyed playing this game. The weapon system is really cool switching between color red and blue. Great music and snappy controls. I highly recommend it.1 found this helpful
Great shmup1 found this helpful
fun shoot em up. runs great on steam deck. It's in the style of NES/SMS games.
My introduction to the shmup genre, and I really enjoyed it! Soundtrack absolutely kills as well, so for a low price it is very worth it. The replayablility is good for me as well, but this may just be because I am bad at the game.
