Relaxicon

Relaxicon is an ultra simple browser/Flash/mobile tier word puzzle game where you assemble words by dragging them around, typing, etc. It's really just words. In fact, writing this review had more "gameplay" than this so-called game has. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features extremely lazy, minimalist presentation, just words and letters on your screen. It's of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. A very stimulating and useful game in spite of its obstructive drag-and-connect mechanics which often get in the way. The ambient music and serene atmosphere here are also a major plus.

Fun but the dictionary is really inconsistent at times. I'll get excited to submit a long word such as "Defragmentation" only for it to not be accepted. It's really disappointing. Still a 6.5/10 for me though.

Relaxicon has the potential to be a very nice, relaxing word game. The game-play is casual and feels unhurried. The music is unobtrusive enough that I didn't immediately go to the settings and turn it off, which is unusual for me. They keyboard update helped immensely. The one caveat: the dictionary. When playing word games such as this, a typical strategy is to change a word to its plural or -ing form for extra points. Unfortunately, in Relaxicon, this often causes the word to become unrecognizable by the game's dictionary. For me personally, this is a deal breaker. That being said, I still find myself checking back every once in awhile to see if anything has changed because I DO think there is a lot of potential here.
