Mini Words - minimalist puzzle

Make sure to turn on the No Tips mode in the options before you start as I completed the game without using hints and didn`t get all the achievements. Why it wasn`t mentioned or switched on by default seems an odd choice as the cheevos could easily be disabled if you choose to use a hint at any point. Oh well, I ain`t doing all that again.

I'd recommend Mini Words if you are the target audience. This is a casual game that involves figuring out how to connect letters to make words and it seems like it was probably originally designed for mobile phones. If that sounds like something you would enjoy then Mini Words is done well and offers a [i]lot[/i] of content for the price. It is a little bit like a word search, but the hook is that each letter is like a node and edges between nodes can't cross each other. So challenge #1 is finding the hidden words so that each letter is used at least once and challenge #2 is figuring out how to connect the letters in each word without crossing connections from other words. If you enjoy these kind of word games then I think it's pretty likely you would enjoy Mini Words (and the reverse also holds true; if you don't like word games it's easy to not recommend Mini Words). I think that my biggest personal issue with the design of Mini Words is the lack of what I might call expressiveness. The words that you must find are predetermined and so you have to figure out words that fit into the patterns that someone else has decided. Working on your English vocabulary? Well would you look at that. And by that I mean this game, one centered around forming words from the given letters on a grid. You get one belonging to it and their length so that you at least know what you're looking for, although depending on the mode you play on, you may also get a hint (crossword style). Furthermore, as you progress through the game it'll get harder as it also teaches you how words can be placed on said grid while you listen to xylophones tunes in a similar vein to Electroplankton. Unfortunately the game is limited in words and after a while not only do they repeat but the gameplay starts to drag depending on how many levels you decide to go for at once. There's also no music which at least gives you the possibility of having something else in the background yet it would have been nice to have something. All in all, it's fine enough for the casual word guesser and as a learning tool it can be helpful though up to a certain point.

Game didn't work for me, multiple reinstalls did not fix my issue.
