About Renfield: Bring Your Own Blood

Inspired by the events of the movie from Universal Pictures, Dracula has tasked you with a simple job - do everything he wants you to do for the rest of his immortal life. It's a demanding gig, but the benefits are great - immortality, mystic powers and a high-fiber diet of mostly insects.

Renfield: Bring Your Own Blood is a single-player adventure that combines the simplicity of one-touch gameplay with frenetic, room-based action for a new roguelite experience. With unique stages, dozens of enemies, diabolical bosses and enough weapons for a bug-powered bloody rampage, Renfield: Bring Your Own Blood shows you the ups and downs of being the lackey/employee of the most demanding boss in history - Dracula.

Battle horrifying and hilarious horrors

Fight, die, and resurrect while you obliterate dozens of enemies and multiple bosses in a visual explosion of style and charm, all inspired by the Universal Pictures film. You're not doing this for your personal glory, you're doing this to feed the boss and maybe get a promotion.

A gore-geous pixelated world

Power through a stylistic version of New Orleans with beautiful environmental objects, collectibles, and branching paths. Your choices will be the difference between career advancement or eternal unemployment.

Even more anarchy and armaments

Level up to be the best lackey/overworked employee. Equip yourself with dozens of upgradable weapons and pest-powered skills to become Dracula's very best (and only) employee. More gear and challenges will come over the next several months so your gameplay will always stay fresh.

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate this Vampire Survivors-style game for its fun combat, creative upgrades, and entertaining tie-in to the source material, with some finding it surprisingly enjoyable despite modest expectations. However, critics note that beneath the initial fun lies shallow gameplay that becomes repetitive after about 30 minutes, hampered by poor collision detection, unfair enemy spawning, and basic progression systems that limit long-term engagement.

There are a great many Magic Survival clones in the world, but only one that lets you wield Dracula's severed head as a weapon.

I had more fun than I expected watching the film, I'm having more fun with the game than I anticipated. I guess its cannon then. [h1]If you like the Vampire Survivors genre, this one is good.

I like the unlock system. I like the feeling that I can "Beat" the game. Some reviews have suggested a difficulty spike, but I didn't feel that at all. It's expected that you'd run into a soft wall as you need to learn the sytstems, best builds for you etc. It's morre fun to figure out how to progress, than to assume progression. I really liked this game, and recommend it. It's not the most balanced. It's highly exploitable. But it's inexpensive, bite sized and replayable. It was worth my time at least.

Hit detection, movement and animations are so jank 99% of runs will end without you having any idea what hits you. With the way it's designed it would work better if there was a built in healing mechanic to offset the random hits that there is no way to see coming. With all the fx on the screen how are you supposed to see a bullet the size of a pixel? Progression tree is extremely basic and offers no real progression, as well as a vast majority of weapons being extremely underwhelming. I want to like the game, it does look good visually it's just so hamfisted I can't.
