About Rift Adventure
Rift Adventure is a 2D platformer with action, adventure and RPG elements set in a vivid fantasy world. You are an adventurer that lives for treasure and excitement, but after seeing your friend and adventuring partner being captured by a great evil, you must also understand your place in your community, and how your actions affect those around you.
Explore numerous stages, all crafted with pixel art graphics, and return to your city to rest, heal, interact with NPC citizens and buy items and resources with the money obtained in your adventures. Your community changes with every choice you make. Will you think in what's best for all, or will your choices benefit only you?

In Rift Adventure, the player will learn to juggle their own wants and needs with that of those around them, as well as understand the importance of being a good member of their community in a natural, organic way. Engage with the game's well-developed mechanics of taxation and economic stability and growth, and see your city thrive - or suffer - in the face of your decisions.

Explore the world through the eyes of Aksius, a sword-wielding bunny, and later unlock Krinis, his gun-toting cat partner, to adventure through the game's many levels. Manage your inventory and resources, and choose your strategy carefully in the face of the many dangers you'll encounter.

I can't in good faith recommend this game. The art looks fine and that was what attracted me. But the combat is so clunky. You get a good amount of damage both from enemies and traps, and thats fine. But for some reason you can't stack healing items, not even buy multiple of then. This make the first boss really tedious, with him spawing bats that sometimes overlaps with their attacks, so you can't dodge it. Yeah, I didn't finish the game but I don't think I'll finish it. Not once I had fun with the combat, it is very stiff. You spend way too much time in combat to be this clunky21 found this helpful
Here's what you do:
Upfront, I played four levels and couldn't get past the first boss after that. I will explain why I don't want to continue playing and you can comment if there is anything in this review that is not clearly explained. This is a 2D action platformer with a light city building element. You go through a set order of levels to collect loot to spend at your town which will increase your town's level. Just buying better equipment and healing items will add to the tax collected by the mayor and thus increase your town level, so upgrading the town is basically done automatically. Your abilities in levels are simply an attack and an invincible dash that has a short recharge time on it so it cannot be spammed. You are not fully healed after beating a level, but there is a free heal spot in town that will heal more hit points as the town levels up. Otherwise you need to buy healing items to recover HP.
What I like:
There are some difficult jumps and I did have to use my invincible dash in mid-air to pas through some harmful brambles to reach a treasure, that was a good use of the ability. There are other secret rooms with more treasure that are telegra…7 found this helpful

Rift Adventure is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of video games everywhere. This one is a furry friendly brawler with light RPG-like elements and level based/story progression as you control furries through various levels behind portals. There's nothing significantly compelling or interesting here that any of the other thousand or so 2D retro pixel platformers has to offer. It's not an asset flip, it's just not very good at all. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance f…3 found this helpful
It's hot garbage. Try again.3 found this helpful
This game seemed Interesting, but currently it holds too many flaws. It has unique ideas and gameplay that drew me in from what I glanced at, but playing lead me to discover every single one of those ideas is completely ruined by a staggering lack of polish. The game itself is fine, but there are too many design choices that feel inadequate. The hitboxes are overtly generous for the enemies compared to you, where you'll watch your attacks miss enemies at point blank or get hit with a gap between you. This problem becomes unbearable during boss fights, especially with the second one, with the amount of I-frames they seemingly are bestowed whilst you have none, which can end your fight within a few seconds. I won't go into detail for the far more petty complaints I have against the games UI design, unskippable dialogue options, or occasional bug with the siege mechanic, but I'm glad I purchased this on sale, otherwise, my buyers remorse might be much greater.2 found this helpful
