This was gonna be a thumbs-down at first, so consider this more of a thumbs-sideways. My first playthrough was so frustrating because of the diamonds, so much that I was dreading replaying this on Hard Mode... but I actually enjoyed that second playthrough quite a bit! My biggest fear was that Hard Mode was just gonna go the "cheap" way of removing checkpoints and that was gonna be it, but I was surprised to discover that no, it is actually exciting. So props to actually adding a creative modifier to levels, and they become fun to play when you no longer have to worry about the diamonds.1 found this helpful
Rift Racoon is a retro-inspired precision platformer where players guide a teleporting raccoon through treacherous pixel-art levels. It offers a demanding experience filled with wall-scrambles, spike-filled puzzles, and teleportation that relies on rhythm. -Retro Charm Atmosphere: The sharp pixel graphics and succinct levels harken back to the golden age of platformers, making it perfect for those who appreciate tightly designed, challenge-oriented gameplay. Approximately 50 brief levels are available, lacking a narrative, which may leave some players desiring greater variety or a sense of progression. -Gameplay: The innovative teleportation mechanic employs a shadow-based teleport followed by a directional jump, facilitating creative navigation through obstacles and confined areas. The tactile wall scramble allows the raccoon to cling to and ascend walls before leaping upward, adding a satisfying element that enriches the movement experience. However, players should be aware of the control's difficulty. This game is a rewarding choice for hardcore platformer fans who enjoy precise, methodical traversal challenges. The teleportation and jump combination enables clever level desi…1 found this helpful
A pleasant little 2D platformer. Keys respond well. The concept is simple just movement, jump and dash but fun and challenging to play. You need to hit special blocks that look like bulbs to jump again, later in the game you have to chain several of them together to clear larger gaps. Also when you’re in the purple jelly you can’t dash, you have to use the little bit of extra height or momentum you get from climbing onto the edge of a block to cross certain gaps. I managed to finish World 3 and got a shiny achievement, I don’t think it’s because other players aren’t good enough it mostly like other people didn’t realize you can gain a bit of height by climbing onto an edge. I think Dev should add a hint, but since this is a 2019 game Idk if they still care. I recorded my World 3-15 walkthrough aka the last map in World 3 in case it helps another player, right now I didn't find any walkthrough except the first world anywhere. It’s not a perfect run, some levels can be completed more quickly if you take damage. Anyway, I got stuck at World 4-3. I stepped on all the green bulbs on the lower floor without taking damage and tried to create a path to the right, but when I got there, t…
I wanted to like this one a lot more, however while I liked the graphics, sound and level design certain aspects of the controls feel far too finicky considering the level of precision required by the level design which sucked the fun out of whole thing for me pretty quickly unfortunately.
